Yes mate you are spot on. And if it has 4-doors and a roof vent then it is a Type RA V-Ltd

Erm, yes and no. The "regular" STi Type R's have a roof vent as well, so the presence of this feature doesn't in itself mean you're looking at a Limited, if that's the question you asked.

I believe that the regular WRX Type R doesn't have a vent, if that helps you.

Its a STi V5 Type R. It has a roof vent and an alloy bonnet,so i'm just wondering if its a V Limited. Whats the difference between the two?

The regular STi5 Type R doesn't come with aircon or a stereo (and a few other "luxury" items) unless specified as an option at time of order. It also has a 19mph/1000rpm fifth gear.

The STi 5 Type R Limited has aircon, stereo etc, and, IIRC, a 22.3mph/1000rpm fifth gear. The other four gears remain as per the "standard" car.

Cheers. So even if it has aircon, roof vent and alloy bonnet doesn't necessarily mean its a V Limited as they could be options?

Is there a definite way to find out? Its a fresh import and the dealers just have it down as an STi V5 Type R.

There will also be a plague just under the ash tray say what number it is of the v ltds. I also think the v ltd's were only in Mica Blue.

Forget about the roof vent and alloy bonnet, it'd have one of those whether it's a Limited or not (it's called a Limited, not a V Limited BTW ), and, as you say, the aircon could have been fitted as an option.

IIRC the Limited and the regular STi5 Type R have the same Applied Model code, so about the most conclusive method would be to drive it and see whether it has the normal or long fifth gear.

Not true. The regular STi5 TypeR does not have a roof vent. Only the Limited (there is no V in the naming) has the roof vent. It should also have a 15:1 quickrack on the limited version.

All TypeRA's have the roof vent.

Also you cant say the car is a limited based on the 5th gear ratio, some have the 22MPH fifth, some have the 19MPH fifth.

It should have a dash plaque if it is a genuine Limited also.

John, your pics don't work. Either way, I've previously owned an STi5 Type R that doesn't have aircon, but does have a vent, which tends to work against your theory, unless there's another explanation?

Your would have been an optional extra, as standard they dont come with the roof vent. Subaru make life dificult for us.
