Impreza models
I'm looking to buy myself an Impreza turbo in a couple of months (once I've sold my current car, hassled the bank manager, etc), so am scouring Autotrader for research and 'inspiration'.
Ok, excuse the 'noobness' of the questions, but...
Are all Impreza turbos known as WRXs?
What sort of year/condition can I really expect for £8000 cash? I'm looking for a standard UK car, and some of the Scoobies I've seen for sale locally are all owned by Max Power readers!
Is there really much of a difference between a (say) 1995 model and a 1999 model?
Fanks in advance!

in the eary days the Jap imports were the only ones that had the WRX badging.
since the 'Bug Eye' all standard turbo models are WRX (except specials like STi etc)
£8k should get you a late 1999 or 2000 classic model (if you haggle hard )
Good luck

MY99 or later are the ones to go for!
These are where the facelift occured, and Ecutek can be applied I should think that £8k will get you one, but not from a dealer

I've seen a few imports at the right age + right mileage + right price, but would like to get a UK car as I've got an import (Toyota) at the moment and am sick of the hassle of it (insurance, parts, attitude of garages, etc). Not sure how import Subarus are viewed, but just fancy a change...
Will have to get my act together, methinks! :-)

RE dealers and imports - Subaru U.K. dealers "frown upon" Imprezas from anywhere other than the U.K. (and the Netherlands for some reason!??). Plenty of specialists around and many insurers are good I believe with Imports if you are over 30.
