Default Jap import

Can anyone help with this question. I spotted a scoob wrx but it was on a m or n plate. There was no sign of an sti badge. So was it possibly a Jap import wrx. Is there a diff between a jap import wrx and wrx sti. Thanks for any help.

Import as M plate is a classic and all WRXs in this shape were imports.
