After browsing thousand lines of informations on the net about panel filter and induction kit for the scooby, i still not know what is the best between

- a panel filter without the resonating box but with a direct connection to the front bumper to get fresh air

- an induction kit with the same direct connection to the front bumper

So, could somebody tell me ?
Thanks,
Mike.

...definitively the panel filter with cold air intake (brake duct):
- cool air
- lots of air pumped in
- high flow!

Question

I've had the panel filter recommened as well. Being fairly new to the Impreza - where is the resonating box located and how easy is it to remove?

(Sorry to hijack your thread Mike)

I went for a ITG panel filter. The noise is great but not too loud and you don't get hot air dragged in when stuck in traffic.
A cone filter is also good but I would add bonnet scoops to get even more air in rather than reroute the brake ducts or cut another hole.
There are several references to these scoops on the board.

Resonator box is in the right bumper, ending into the airbox.
Removing this restriction will give you 2-3PS up!
Buy cold air duct.

(had K&N57i kit but changed to panel filter now, too much noise and a lot more power with the 57i)

Nigel,

is there really an audible difference in putting a free flowing panel filter? Or is it just the removal of the resonator box that makes the difference?
I have removed the resonator but haven't yet changed the filter. Noise has increased slightly.

Hmm. I've done the opposite - swapped the panel filter for a Unifilter free-flow job, but haven't done the resonator box yet. No real increase in noise, but definitely better pick up.
