Question

Had a thought the other day. One of the reasons official dealers give for not servicing imported Sti's is that they don't have access to the technical or workshop manuals.

Since the P1 IS an Sti with a few tweaks they will have the manuals to service it(the P1) and therefore an Sti.

Therefore the dealer's can't use that excuse anymore.

A few dealers i've spoken to will service/fix an Sti but only if you've brought a car from them in the past and are 'a customer'.

Spoke to a dealer yesterday. UK dealers can work on etc STi's, and have access to sti manuals etc (SUK/IM only recommend they don't). It is purely the dealers choice whether they do - most don't!

However, as Black Cat will testify...

...there are UK dealers who will happily work on your import and then at crunch time will say either:-

we can't fix it as it's an import but we'll still charge you for dicking around, or,

we can fix it, but only if you give us the exact Japanese part numbers and then we MAY be able to get the appropriate parts for you in about six weeks (if yer lucky!)

Go to a decent import servicer.
