04 STI
#1
Please excuse my ignorance.
My new STI is on its way down to the dealer for fitment of all its extra goodies.
The dealer has told me, excitedly, that it's an 04 model.
Is there any difference between that and the 03 model?

Now that's interesting. I saw a thread about alledged performance increases on new PPP.
I have ordered the PPP for dealer fit. What's it going to be? 305 or 320 BHP?
What do you think?

OCD - well if they fit the PPP before April/May time, its probably the current PPP version 310PS compared to the new 320PS, as alledgedly the new PPP is hitting the dealers about the same time as the WR1 ltd edition '04.
Or so I've been told...

Thanks for the advice but I have already parted with my cash. Not the end of the world. More curious than anything. I don't see that the extra 10bhp will make a serious difference.

You are right 10PS in its own right won't make a lot of difference - but what will make a lot of difference is how the power curve is effected by the new PPP configuration, it could make a huge difference to how the car will drive post PPP installation.
Best you wait.

Phil
On sale in the spring and limited to 500 units, the ‘WR1’ – as it will be called – will feature a power upgrade to around 320 PS plus a host of technical and visual upgrades.

Lol! Thirty - fifteen Phil, surely?
At end of day, it doesn't matter what dealers get told in letters that are meant for their eyes only. There's still no official public announcement about the '04 PPP being 320, whether owners of '03 cars also get more power, whether current PPP owners can upgrade or not etc. etc., which is why threads like this one have sprung up.

GM - I see you will never admit defeat!
I see where you are coming from, and would agree that 320PS has not been confirmed publicly as such. But, the dealer letter was not for their eyes only, it was for information purposes so that if asked they can answer any customer queries. It is clear that both the WR1 and the STi MY'04 will share the same PPP package which is expected to produced circa 320PS as far as IM/SUK are concerned, and both cars will also have this fitted post registration as I understand it.
Deuce! perhaps?

Nah. Mr Monkey slipped on some grease while running for your cross-court volley (40-15) and was then fined a point for arguing with the Ref.

I'm not into scoring as I always lose, but I just love rumours
I have heard a UK330 model will be anounced in April. Not that Subaru need to match what Mitzy are doing

OCD,
As Dr said wait for the new PPP. Until you see the specs and the power delivery curve. If not you may end up with the only 04 STI with the 310 PPP. If that is the case come resale time you may not get a penny for the PPP addition. Leave the money with the dealer if they wont give some back and make sure you are no1 for the new PPP.
Just my thoughts
David
