anyone on here gone from a pre-facelift classic to a sti 5 type r (or similar)?

if so...

* what exactly did u upgrade from and to?
* was it worth the money to upgrade in your opinion?
* was there a significant performance difference in real-world driving?
* other real-world differences?

please give me your opinions

my first car was a k reg wrx from japan, i upgraded that for a version 4 type r, and was amazed, the performance is second to none, since then i've had evo 4,5, 6,7,&8 and sti 2,3,4,7& ive just picked up a jap spec sti9, but in all honesty the evo 8 was propebly the fastest as it was an rs, but it was too refined. if they started making 2 dr coupes again i would be the first name on the list, but to say they can go for upto 15k for a version5/6,thats pretty expensive to say mine only cost a little bit more.

how did the wrx's compare to the evo... say the v4 type r compared to the evo5?

my first scoob was a 93 wrx witch i sold about 5 months ago and bought a sti 5 type r v-limited for £16000 and it was worth every penny u cant compare the excelaration. I got used 2 the pace of the wrx pretty quickley but the type r still feels like it is going to rip my head off every time i floor it. it is also a much nicer car to drive and the brakes dont fade like they did on the wrx it is also more fun to drive with the adjustable diff because u can get the back end to step out and power slide around bends but at the same time u have to show it alot more respect than a normal scoob as it can get you into trouble.

the evo is more of a girls car, and the subaru i s pure brute taking no prisoners, i love driving the evos as they give you maximum performance without scaring you, but.... we all like being scared. the 0-60 times are similar but the sti throws you back in your seat off the mark whereas the evo is as fast but less subtle, me and my other half cannot decide which we preffer hence try them all, which ever car you decide on youll get a fantastic car which will stay with if not beat motors what cost upto twice as much. good luck

Milo - as the above, the type R is probably the most "fun" scoob as you can set the diff to give you loads of sideways action if it's wet and you push real hard.. or set it up to be safe and grippy..

I have mine sideways in the wet on a roundabout and it was amazingly controllable with a few degrees of opposite lock - brilliant laugh !!

p.s. is also doesn't have 4 doors like a shopping car would
