Cool

Outstanding!

Jeremy where have you been?

Why have we had to wait so long for this sort of thing on the BBC rather than people carriers, diesels, Quentin etc?

It's not PC but that's what makes it sooooo good.

Can't wait for next week!

Can't believe he slagged off the Bugatti EB110 - probably the most beautiful and exclusive car ever created... (especially in the more familiar Bugatti blue)

The Buggati EB110 the most beautiful car ever? - 'fraid I can't agree with that one.

That honour HAS to go to the XJ220!!!!

EB110 one of the most beautiful cars ?

I think not.

And only exclusive because no-one liked it, and didn't buy one !

Lambourgini Diablo, now THAT is a beautiful and wonderfully impractical car.

Clarkson's back in town.

He da Man, he da Man.

Even if Tiff went sideways in an Impreza for a mile with VBH flicking the Bright Button it wouldn't be half as good as this.
Lets just take a minute to remember that this is also the man who got a device built enabling him to smoke whilst scuba diving. Patent pending I presume.

Mines the F40, please. Diablos and XJ220's also accepted.

Looks good next week!

At a push, I would have settled for the V8 Vantage (or the V12 Vantage). Even the 246 Dino would have done.

He was behind me on the M3 the other week in his XJR (1 JJC). A nice gentle cruise at 95. Things was, he couldn't keep his fingers out of his nose. Then he got bored of that and started picking his ears. Top bloke, very talented, shame about the habits !!

"I'm back" said Clarkson. And ain't he so.

He's right about supercars - 80s stuff.

Greatest of them all? The F40. But if you include (very) limited homologation jobs then the McLaren F1 LM. Only available in metallic, er, orange. Big wing so it ain't skittish. And preferably a sticker on the back saying "You've just been Tango'd"...

Jaguar XJ220 - lemon
Bugatti EB110 - expensive lemon
Diablo - it's the only one still being sold, which says something.

Supercars have nothing to do with beauty. Which is one reason why the F355 isn't one - it's too pretty (aswell as being too easy to drive and too slow). If you want contemporary beauty then try a 550 Maranello. But the most wonderful (beauty, sound, ability, rarity) car ever is without any doubt the 250 GTO. 39 made between '61 and '63. 37 left, most still being raced. And each one worth at least 7 figures.

Ooops, I'm sorry, I've just come.

or maybe add even more sound, ability and rarity to a 250 GTO - a 330 GTO. Only 3 made, only one left.

Question

Can't understand why the Porsche 959 wasn't
included (my favourite car). 200mph,
4wd and you can see out of the back.

It wasn't included for exactly that reason, it made compromises for practicality, including seats in the back and a decent interior. Shame we didn't see it though as it was the only contemporary rival to the F40.

There's a good story about the 959 on

What about the Vector.

The first car to break 210mph so I belive, it looked awful handled like a wet bag of squirrels by all accounts, and was American.

Yeh I'll let him off fo rthat oversight.

interesting he said that the Diablo was the only one still being made, and yet he drove the Esprit earlier in the program...? Im pretty sure they still make them..

Anyway - Vector. Apparently the MD of that company was nuttier than a fruitcake. Wanted to follow up the Vector with something called the 'Ramwing' - which didnt have any wheels. His board said 'er...we dont think so', so he sacked them all, then locked himself in his office and refused to eat till they said he could make it! top bloke
