Question

I just got my first scratch in my scooby, after visting my parents up in Leicester. scraped on the corner of the rear bumper.

Most of the other guys paint came off with a good wipe, so I'm left with a scuff. It might just be the laquer thats come off, or possibly some paint.

What options do I have in the windsor/berks area? and how much is it likely to cost? Its a black car, so it isn't that noticeable, but I don't want to leave it if it might be open to the elements.

thanks for any help

You are a bit to far away from me (south bucks) as this is what i do for a living.

Cost wise should be £75.00 tops, should be arounf £50 - £60 if its just paint damage.

try to find a S.M.A.R.T repairer with their own paint mixing system (we use dupont) and not the aerosol brigade.

To be honest this type of damage is our most common repair, about 80% of our work is in bumper scuffs & cracks.

If you get stuck, ,ail me and i will try to help you, (fellow scooby owner).

regards

Well i am in south bucks so if this sort of thing happens to you e mail me.

£300.00 jesus, hope u did not pay it.

Most S.M.A.R.T. repairs for bumpers scuffs are going to cost under £75. A lot of main dealers & motor trade use these repairs cos its un noticeable from a complete respayed bumper and they can charge you silly money.

I may be giving you a call myself tomorrow LittleKnocks, my son was riding a little to close to my wifes Vectra and scatched the door with the end of his BMX handlebar
Is this the type of thing that you can do while you wait or is it an overnight job?

ok, just been estimated about 125+VAT over the phone, which seems a bit steep to me. Gonna look elsewhere to get that price down.

I've also just picked up a lovely windscreen chip, so need to sort that

Email me (LittleKnocks@btconnect.com) or post up a pic of the damage & I'll tell you what's reasonable.

Forgot to say that if it is just a small scuff on a bumper corner we'd do it trade for you (about £50)

Anyone know of any SMART repair centre in or around Nottingham or anyone that can be recommended to me that have done a good job? I've got similar scrapes to get rid of too on rear bumper.

I'd be interested in some recommendations in the Notts area as my scoob was 'attacked' by a rock over Christmas!

Guys

What's the difference between Chipsaway and Chipsmart apart from 2 different companies? Is there much a difference between the 2? Has anyone used both and preferred one than the other?

Cheers

The biggest difference in any SMART repair company is the guy doing the repair.

You can have someone doing a paint repair on your pride & joy who's a fully qualified/experienced car sprayer that's left a bodyshop to do SMART repairs or, to the extreme, you could end up with someone who's bought a franchise & been on a 2 week training course.

I'm sure the other guys here will have had to put right poor smart repairs carried out by the latter.

Glad I saw this post as some useless bas**rd has scraped the side of my lower rear bumper right down to the black on my silver MY00. Walked back to the carpark and noticed it. Gutted! I'm in Watford but happy to get it over to Bucks or wherever may be to get it sorted resonably. I'll try and get a pic of the damage over the weekend so that you could possibly be able to give me a rough estimate of the cost? Cheers.

Dan.
