what car to get
#1
Hi people, looking at replacing the 306dturbo in feb as ive got a more secure job and been going round a round in circles with what car to get. Here is my list of the usual suspects:
1. CTR
For: cheapish to run and service, safer buy, fast and looks sporty (for a breadvan), cheapish to buy.
againsht: little slow feeling, looks.
2. Cupra R
For: new shape looks really nice, fast and can be chipped to 265bhp easily.
Against: expensive to buy, not sure what insurance is like or mpg, looks a little family carish.
3. DC5
for: looks wicked, fast and rare, will keep value well.
Against: import so more headwork, cost, insurance?
4. Scooby (bugeye with morretes)
for: looks nice, fast and can be driven fast in all conditions
against: fuel, insurance, tyres, also looks max power and i reckon its not as reliable as the CTr
5. Mazda rx7
for: looks nice, well fast, and rare, cheap to buy, cheap to insure for some reason
against: fuel (15mpg) engine rebuild at 60k miles costing 4k
At moment its neck and neck between scooby and CTR but the rx7 keeps comming back too! What are your thoughts guys and girls?

One fallacy to debunk before we go any further...
B*ll*cks, in a word. There's always a rash of accidents from people making this misjudgement at this time of year.
Anyone who thinks an Impreza can be driven quickly irrespective of road conditions is going to end up like this poor chap sooner or later.
Four wheel drive might give additional traction, but it doesn't make the car immune to the effects of inclement weather conditions (and poorly suited tyres thereto), and it doesn't instantly give you the car control of Petter Solberg either.
While it's fair to say that the Impreza generates more traction than the FWD sports hatches you're considering, please don't buy one thinking it'll make you invulnerable to misjudging the level of grip available. If you do, you're going to be badly disappointed.

cheers for the replies. Im looking at spending 12-13k really. I hear your comment about the scooby, but i say that in comparison to the other cars mentions esp the RX7. A 4wd will outperform all the other 2wd in any condition, the old "twisties" (tm) comes to mind
