Fuel economy
#1
Hi guys, new scooby owner here wondered what others were getting on fuel economy as I am only getting around 25mpg including a motorway run. Seems a little thirsty. What are you guys getting?
Thanks

Bout 19mpg, but then i do no motorways and boot it a fair bit
25mpg seems above average to me, most people see about 22mpg though 30mpg when continously doing about 90mph on a motorway has been known.

It's gonna be the highest road speed achievable in the highest gear with the least revs and the least throttle.
Very light throttle at very low revs in 5th gives about 80/90 mph. Any slower and you're having to drop to 4th with more revs and throttle, and faster and your having to give a decent amount of throttle to overcome wind resistance.
(This is for a UK spec car with UK spec gearing)

Splitter thats 24mpg you were getting
I get on average 25-28mpg now, so if your getting 25 I would say thats normal.....but looking at what these guys get perhaps we should find our accelerator pedals a bit more

who cares about mpg?
i didn't buy mine to be worried about mpg
just enjoy what you got safe in the knowledge you can do it faster than the other guy
steve
btw £25 of optimax @ 79.9 a litre gives me about 120-140 miles

Guys, could we all go back to our posts, please, and edit them to include details of the cars? An 01 WRX has different fuel consumption to an STi7, which is different to an STi8PPP, which is different to...
These figures are meaningless if we don't know what the car is!

Hi Guys,
I'm from Perth in Western Australia and running a MY03 2.5lt XS Auto and using 98 RON BP Fuel, on a full tank trip with 2 adults couple of suitcases and climate control because of the heat ( 30 deg c up to 36deg c ) ,country probably 80% and city the rest and from full to low gas light coming on my XS does 623 km's and 50 lts fuel to refill which in your lingo is 35.46 mpg, and there was something like 10ltrs left in the tank, not a bad return i thought..however there is a guy in the USA who with the same vehicle covered 687 km's on a tank full...know thats pushing your luck..

G'day Guys
You guys do not seem to worried about your fuel consumption probably the fact that you travel such short distances, here in OZ a short trip can be 200-300-400 k's just for day out so thats why we here watch our fuel consumption closely

Most of you must have lead boots on when you drive!!
I got 27.5 mpg from my last tank of Optimax in my 96 UK turbo. This was a mixture of A roads (mainly sticking to the speed limits) and B roads being a bit naughty
On a usual week (same roads as zhastaph ) I see a minimum of 23 mpg. It should be a little more (24 to 25 on B roads and 30+ on long A road runs) but the plugs are about dead + a few other gremlins. It used to get the higher figures just after the last service.
You should also note that you won't get good mpg in winter, as the air is much cooler and therefore a bit more dense - so the car will use more fuel to maintain the correct air/fuel ratio. The up side is a bit more performance

i haven't got above 20 mpg with my 99 rb5 with decat, dawes, blitz induction kit and td05, but as i'm travelling from above glasgow, to birmingham next week and swindon at the end of february, i wanted to know what speed was best for the motorway.
but 80-90 mph sounds good to me

Get about 23 to 24 on everyday use, and upto about 33 on a good motorway run. When I was running my scoob in came back from scotland (Stirling area) to Chesterfield on a full tank about 330 miles and still had the gauge reading between 1/4 and empty.
