Why do people say they are going to come and see your car, and then not bother, without even the courtesy to let you know they aren't coming?
2 Scoobynet users, regulars too, have done this to me!!
If I change my mind/finf another etc when I buy a car, I will let anyone who is waiting on me know, just out of respect and courtesy. Somewhat lacking in some people though.
Rant over.

Wouldn't have been so bad if they had come to look, as if they did I am sure they would have bought it - however they obviously weren't serious. Made out as if they were coming though, and that has put me out - twice!
I provided all details requested, and was nothing but friendly and informative. What makes it worse is both know the reason for selling - my fiancee is 6 months pregnant, and we need to change the car for something bigger. I have enough on at the moment, without timewasters.
Name and Shame?
The first is typer320 , who incidentally was selling a car recently on here. Not only did he waste my time, but supplied an incorrect phone no, and when I emailed him to ask why he'd wasted my time, he took the ****!
I'll hold fire on the 2nd one, as I have spoken to him a few times, and he did seem genuine, so will give him an opportunity to get back to me - may be circumstances I am unaware of.

Welcome to the world of car selling! Pisses me off no end. I had someone make an offer a couple of weeks ago, then disappear off the face of the earth. Had to chase him and he said he didn't like the colour

I know it's nothing new, you're very lucky if you sell a car and not come across a timewaster.
It just never ceases to amaze me the lack of courtesy some people have got - how do they get by in life with such crappy attitudes??
Also, I expected better from scoobynet users for some reason - silly me
It's probably because the internet makes everything so remote, so people think there is no comeback for being an ****.

the problem is guys, we expect everyone to be like ourselves, but they are not. Its like someone commented, people being on teh net think its so remote they have no comebacks, I would think a user of the board though, should at least learn some manners, hope you sell ur car soon. Without any more timewaisted

I`ve bought & sold many items on here and have delt with some genuine decent people but of course there`s going to be someone you come across at sometime who`ll mess you about, like the muppet who was supposed to meet me on the A59 about some wheels,left me sat there for ages, ar£+hole. Like me you`ll know better next time than to bother with them.

I have been known to have complicated arrangements when attempting to buy and sell stuff. But I will always ALWAYS keep the other party informed so as not to cause them exactly this kind of hassle.
Having a complicated life is one thing, but causing others inconvenience for no reason is just plain rude.

Paddylad was the other timewaster. Spoke to him on the phone a couple of times, and he seemed genuine, but turned out again to be a timewaster, without even the politeness to let me know he's not coming to see car!
I have bought and sold a few cars in my 14 years of motoring, and I can safely say I have never done this. No excuse as far as i'm concerned.

totally agree, if the buyer doesnt want to buy it they should make it clear, I had a guy make me an offer, shake my hand, then refuse to give me a deposit and never heard from him again, they should at least call u up and say sorry, changed my mind, i certainly would as i hate it being done to me

Ive had someone change their mind and then want their deposit back, dont they understand tahat a deposit means you are going to buy it and I wont sell to anyone else. Try going in a shop and trying that on, I had to travel right round the other side of the M25 to get my scoob and I looked,liked then paid a deposit. I picked it up a few days later and im happy, if I didnt like the car I would have said so and not wasted anyones time.
Cant make people like what your selling but no need to play silly games, make an offer or say not interested end of story.
Sorry for ranting but trying to sell my Xsara VTS at the mo and getting all types of idiots.
Cheese.....

when i go to see a car, if i dont like it, i say sorry, dont like it wont waist your time. Seems some people just cant bring themselves to say that
<counselor mode on>
maybe its a self worth issue, where they think you wont like them if they dont buy it
<counselor mode off>

You want to change the car for something bigger? It's a foor-door saloon with a decent boot. Are you having a baby or an Elephant?
Hang on... I'm making an assumption here, aren't I? You never actually said it was a scoob, did you? Sorry.

Someone travelled over 150 miles to see a car my husband was selling. He arrived with wife plus 3 unruly kids, who I had to entertain while he spent ages looking the car over and going out for a test drive in it.
He and his wife went outside to discuss over about the car and he came back in and said he would definitely have it and how much deposit was needed to secure it, we told him a nominal sum and he said where was the nearest Cashpoint as he had no cash on him. He knew we were waiting to go out, so gave them directions to nearest cash machine [about 5 mins away] and they said they wouldn't be long.
Thirty minutes later, they still hadn't returned, tried phoning his mobile and it was switched off, so waited another thirty minutes and still nothing - so we eventually gave up & went out. Two hours later, got a text message saying 'Missus wont let me have the car, hope I didn't waste your time' Not even a word of apology!

There are some complete twots about so the trick is to get phone numbers and details from anyone who's supposed to be comming and stress that you expect them to let you know in good time if there's a problem, generally they will if you've got a mobile and a land line number.
Been bitten to many times, I even took my vehicle to see a bloke once who said he was really interested could I bring it back when his wife was in - like a muppet I did and it was really his mechanic mate who ripped the motor to bits -no sale and plenty of time wasted that time, but never again!!
