Whats the difference between an Impreza WRX and an STi???

Guys,
I fully appreciate that this is something that has been discussed a million times before, but I need all the info I can get. I'm seriously thinking of buying a scoob (the mk2 bug eyed model) but need to find out more before I put my money where my mouth is.
Its a toss up between an Impreza, an Escort Cosworth or an Audi S3.
Cheers, Nickolarse

The WRX is the base model turbocharged Impreza (there are also non-turbo GX and Sport models) with the 2l flat 4 boxer engine. The STi (Subaru Technica International) is the same car with various performance enhancements such as better suspension, steering components, 6 speed 'box, Brembo brakes, differentials and, crucially, many engine components resulting in around 65bhp more, and a much better driving car. You can up the performance of the WRX to that of the STi by adding the PPP (Prodrive Performance Pack) or any of a number of aftermarket modifications, but it's the complete package of all the components which take the STi up to the next level, not just the bhp. Of course, you can also PPP an STi up to 300bhp. Then the skys the limit with further mods. As with all vehicles, only you know what you expect and I suggest you book a couple of test drives to get the feel. The Cosi, although awsome in its day, IMHO is not upto the job unless you put in a lot of hard (expensive) work. The Audi is more style than substance and although a competent performance car, it is not in the same category as Scoobs.
All IMHO.
All IMHO.
