re-arming immobiliser

Hi, visiting with 3 questions that have been itching my Subaruish bits: You discuss n/a Scoobs here too, no? Oh, and Hi Martin, you nonce!

This question is also related to Dad-in-law's Outback 2.5 - he hates complex cars and I thougt a good old jacked up Legacy would be nice as pie. But he is going to trade in v. soon, one of the major reasons being the automatically re-arming immobiliser. He doesn't think he should be farting about locking/unlocking just because he hasn't started the engine IMMEDIATELY on opening the car. Can this be monkeyed about with? Preferably reversibly..
