Could it be the ltd edition that everyone is talking about?

If no one knows anything, I'm surprised someone hasn't made something up yet, you know, "My source said it has a 1,700bhp 7.5ltr quad turbo". You know the crap I mean.

Isn't that a Euro STi with the 2.5 engine from the US model that he (or should I say Powerstation) have fitted.
I think he is a marketing genius, almost every car magazine in the last 3 months has had some kind of mention about his Red Spec C Ltd, and now he has devised this "Type 25" incarnation.
Very very clever man, and good luck to him is what I say. Are you reading this Prodrive? what Ian is doing is what you should be doing.

Perhaps that should be clearly stated on his website.

Interesting all the same. I should imagine it's gonna cost though.

Does anyone know the spec? Will it be a Spec C beater?

Hadn't realised that Iain had put something up on his site, hence trying to divert attention to an old Lotus. Sorry.

Yes, it is an Impreza, but I can't say more.

Cheers

OK, ok, I can release further information now.

It's a Subaru, it has four wheels, an engine and will be a bit quick.

Canada and USA get the 2.5l STi, circa 300bhp, so more or less a UK STi PPP, but without the suspension and other PPP mods. Rather nice i must say, the PMSL bit is that it has cruise control, lol. Not been out in one yet, but will do soon.

As for why US get's a 2.5, not sure. If it's to do with a love of a big engine then it should really be a 3.0 or bigger.

Interested to see what the Type 25 is though.

Danny - yeah, thought I was seeing things! I'd seen it on WRX's, but thought there is no way it'd be on an STi, but there you go. Does kinda make sense though, I can see why so many cars out here have slushmatic boxes; Lights at nearly every intersection, and nice big long roads to drive on, driving for 4 hours is nothing to these guys! freaks them when I point out that if I drove for 4 hours in the UK I could be across two thirds of the country!

Markus: Have you driven the 2.5STI. When I went to have a go the bl00dy garage was shut (on a saturday).

As for why the US gets a 2.5ltr i can say this: "Super" unleaded is 93RON! Guff is that it puts out 300bhp @6500 and 300lbft @ 3500 with a twin scroll. The really cool bit though is its $32,000 fully spec'ed. Thats Ł18,250!!!!!!!!!

BUT the savings go on.... I went and had a look at a brand new Evo8, and was offered one for $28,601 (Ł16,300)

When I was ordering my STI from Litchfield's, Iain was talking about doing a special etition STI with AP brakes, Bilsteins etc. As he has put a US 2.5 litre motor in his Spec C (more than 300 bhp!), I would expect the car to have this transplant.

california is the only state whose best gas is 93RON (91 Octane) All other states sell at least 95RON.

As for reason for the 2.5L in US, a big reason is for passing emmissions regulations. In addition, the extra displacement helps generate torque in lieu of a more costly twinscroll turbo (and still keeps the proper subie exhaust burble). On top of that, Subie just wanted to one up Mitsubishi and did a good job of shocking the world when they came out with this.
