Warranty / Decat ?????
#1
Anyone managed to decat and retain their warranty with Subaru ?
Running a MY52 Sport here and really would like to replace the centre section, before i ring my dealer to enquire about the warranty (engine mods are a no no and this seems falls into that group)
i just thought i'd ask the question, as i see that many do decat with new scoobys........ do i assume you guys have lost your warranty by doing this ?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Si,
I've just gone with a Back Box, as a full de-cat would require a re-map, which is even more money. After spending X £££'s to buy the car in the first place, I want the option to give to a dealer to fix IMHO
All the best Dave

a full decat really would make a diffence. Si, i think the MY01's have 3 cats in the system all together. Its not too much work to be able swap the bavk and middle cats. as they are pretty easy access. The one that is difficult is the one in the down pipe. Very intereted in doing this myself - let me know what you find out!

Simb,
My ears are still buzzing from following you through the tunnels !!!!!
I was just wondering about the centre section myself, not 100% sure but i think i just got the 2 cats on mine.......
Full decat is certainly a warranty killer
Shall make a few dealer phone calls for advice i think

My car is 6 months old and I've just removed all cats by adding a full Hayward and Scott system. Do it, it makes a HELL of a difference.
If I have a warranty problem, I'll swap it back to the standard system and go to the dealer... simple

Rob......
Have i got some good news for you !!!!
Just had a long chat with my dealer, no worries mate as long as i just follow their guide lines
I think i'd better mail you my phone number so i can run through a few things.... on mine as it's a Sport it has 2 cats and on the centre section a silencer where as the WRX has 3 cats fitted and no silencer, i can remove the silencer and replace with a straight through centre section no problem at all
As to the warranty issue it does effect it but not fully, only the part of the warranty that covers the exhaust and nothing else, now i can also fully de-cat as long as i go with their chosen supplier (and that's not Subaru) apparantly the cats have sensors that send info back to the ECU, when removing them the ECU have false info fed into it ? so they also supply a new chip to fit that corrects this.
I also gave your idea as an example and was given the thumbs up to that too
I think maybe time to change dealer ????
Later mate
