Hitting 4k in 2nd gear on a test run.... WRX Jap 95'

What causes the hesitation ?

Running on tank of optimax. Boosting at 0.9 Bar..

Is the boost too much? Why the hesitation... standard ECU probs?

VERY close to buying my first scooby... need your Help!!!

does the CEL flicker or stay on?? Best bet is do a ECU check, read the codes and hopefully it will tell you the fault.

Sorry, the 'cel' bit means nothing to me but their was a red light that flickered at the same time as the 'hesitiation'

I was on a test run & have never owned a WRX before so appologies for the vague description.

If the ECU is at fault is this because we were running 0.9 bar?

Could it simply be another problem? Just concerned if it was anything to do with the fuel etc?
Cheers

Thumbs up

The CEL is the 'check engine light' situated in the row of dash warning lights. You can do a ECU code read yourself as there is 2 black and 2 green wires under the drivers side near the fuse box that you connect together, this with the ignition on reads out the fault codes.
Do a search as this has been covered many times ....all will be explained.

I doubt very much if it is a ECU fault...
does it have an induction kit?? these can kill the MAF
you should be running optimax plus booster as a minimum on an import unless the ECU has been remapped for 'our poor' grade of fuels.

Great Steve... getting there just lots to take in! Twin carbs were much easier.....

No induction kit but boost controller and a few other flashing lights & *****... Want to go for it but the hesitation was the only real issue. What happens to my peak power if I change the ECU to a 3rd party. Are these a plug & pray.. affair how much & where to buy?

Cheers

Give it a short time and you will get other replies to help.
A scooby ecu upgrade will be the way to go BUT it may pay you to find out from the previous owner what modifications have been done.

as i said before do a search as there will be loads of previous posts covering your concerns.

Would guess that the plugs or coil pack(s) could do with some attention/replacing. Not terrible, but obviously it should be confirmed before you part with cash.

Boost level is fine. If you fit a ScoobyECU and there is an ignition problem, then it will most likely get worse - not be solved.
