PPP on an STi8 - what do they do?
#1
The brochure says a PPP on an STi8 is a performance fuel pump, revised ECU, stainless exhaust, and high-flow cat.
I've got mine booked in, but want to keep the old parts in case I feel the need (or get the an insurance hit compelling me) to revert to standard spec.
The garage say that it doesn't include a performance fuel pump, and the ECU is simply an exchange - the existing one being returned to Subaru.
Can anyone comment?

The ECU is defintitely sent back, but you couldn't swap it back in anyway as all your key fobs are linked to it.
Likewise I don't think putting old exhuast parts or pump back would work with the new ecu.
So the old parts are really only of use if you want to sell them, I figured they where a waste of space, i know the garages end up throwing them away.

Had mine fitted when i got the car a week ago and collected all the bits which were taken off apart from the ecu which is sent back to prodrive unless you want to pay the sur charge of about £1000
Swap my backbox aswell there too quiet so i have a brand new Prodrive backbox for a spare aswell as the standard sti one.

STi7 OEM fuel pump was fund, in retrospect, not to be quite up to operating with PPP, and early STi7 PPP conversions had an uprated pump retrofitted. Unless STi8 has an uprated fuel pump as OEM, it will have needed one as part of PPP. Given that the original pump was/is sufficient for non-PPP STis, I can't imagine that STi8 has the uprated one as standard and that therefore the components were correctly stated to/by thrustSSC.
