Question

Had to lose my MY99 PPP due to addittions to family. Now got diesel estate :-(
However, considering a new WRX PPP maybe next year. What is the CO2 rating if used as a company car and what are your opinions family wise regarding usable space between wagon and saloon? Are residuals good enough at the moment to buy myself?

Question

Oh and who has upgraded the brakes? My my99 seemed to be rather lacking in the anchor department on hard driving. Is the set on the Subaru options list worth it?

Yes to the brakes with PPP fitted it has the same BHP as a NON ppp sti and they have far better brakes fitted as standard. I have WRX 03 and fitted a Godspeed 335 big brake kit which is fantastic you will find details in the brakes section of this forum. Standard brakes IMHO with ppp are not up to the job if you fully explore tne cars capability.

I think id second that, to be honest im finding that the brakes arent fully up to the job on a standard WRX let alone a PPP'd one. If you wanted to keep approved subaru parts on the car then i would at least get the prodrive pad upgrade, if not the bigger disc upgrade as well. Although the disc upgrade obviously comes with a large pricetag!! (therefore doubling the price of the PPP almost)

Thanks for the comments. Practicality wise do you get much more room in the wagon although I do prefer the look of the saloon. Did I hear rumours that next years WRX saloon will have a larger more gentleman's spoiler on it as standard?

The Wagon gives a load of extra space - seriously... You know the amount of crap you have to carry when you're loading up for a sprog.

The brakes are better than the MY00. Apparently, they've fettled with the master cylinder or something. Pedal feel is better IMHO, but if you're really pushing on you may want to upgrade. I've never had fade in the 03... I did on the 00 a couple of times.

Sorry m8 - Cant disagree more - but think the old 5 door v 4 door was a bigger difference compared to the new one

The CO2 rating does not differ from the std car as it's fitted after registration.

Perhaps it's because I've got a boot, rather than sub box

The difference is when you run out of space in the boot, you can continue stacking - especially with a dog guard in the car. No, I don't have a dog, yes I'm buying a dog guard

Cheers,
Nick.

Have just gone from an '01 wagon to an '03 4 door and the boot line fits exactly, so the floor space is the same. However you have to be able to squeeze things in under the boot in the wagon there was loads of space. Try picking up an xmas tree....!

I read that the Wagon sufferred from more road noise than the 4 door - my 4 door is pretty bad. Is this true wagon owners? I've tried to insulate the boot with faom in the lid and rubber mats plus some carpet under the back seat.

I think the WRX 03 brakes are pretty good but maybe I'm not stamping on them as hard as others? I wouldn't spend the money on an upgrade unless I was doing track days etc
