Hi All,
I have a 97P Reg White STi3, with a 4 month old, completely rebuilt engine, New Turbo & Clutch. I have to get something for approx 10K, that will manage at least 30MPG, I am looking for something that will perform, so I dont miss the power as much as possible, Any Ideas?? Anyone want a Scooby????

U can get a 2001 206 GTi for about £7K. 0-60 in the high 7's and high 20's for the MPG with a heavy foot. Used to get about 270 miles from £35 of juice.
Nothing like as quick as a scooby, but still good fun, hold the road well and more goodies inside, Environmental control, 6 CD changer as standard etc etc

I REALLY REALLY like the Lexus IS200, but am finding it hard to get useful information on them, I have heard varying reports on them, & have also heard that they are slow off the mark, but I have now found out they do a 6 Cylinder 2.0 version, does anyone know anything useful about them??
Cheers For All your replies so far !!

IS200 (or the few i have been in!) are pretty sluggish off the mark, but are very nice motors. Very comfortable and bloody cheap!
You could go down the Golf GTi Tdi route and have it messed with. Will give you fantastic MPG and should move a bit too! Plus pretty well made and good toys!
Or an Audi A3 T-sport. Very well made, pretty nippy, Good MPG, easy to make look sweet and excellent interior - especially when in leather!!
Just a bit of food for thought and my 2p worth!!
Happy hunting!

I owned one myself.Great little car especially when you hit 6krpm and all hell lets loose untill 8300rpm then the limiter cuts in.

The imports, still badged Toyota Altezza, are 4 cylinder 2 litre. They are 215bhp as opposed to the UK's 160 odd. They also hit 60mph 2 seconds quicker.
All have the 6 speed box if manual.
I was looking at them too but went for the Audi. Get a bit more for your money and the IS200 service is around £1,000 when done by Lexus.

A3 1.8T with the TT running gear transplant and an S3 for the weekends.
The 1.8T is nice. Leather interior, Eibachs and Konis all round, EBC brakes and 18" TT alloys. Looks the mutts nuts. Will post some pictures tomorrow or Wednesday.
The Scoob was becoming a chore to drive to be honest and they aren't cheap to run. Worry about where you park. Too much hassle. And it was time to grow up a bit.
