I have a 01 WRX Impreza. I have a WRS Backbox and a De-Cat downpipe. So far the CEL has not illuminated. My next step is to fit a DE-Cat centre section and UP PIPE. I presume at this stage the CEL will come on. Shortly after I replace the pipes I am going to get an ECUTEC Remap of the ECU.
My question is - in the intervening period between replacing the pipes and getting the ECU re-mapped, the CEL is obviously going to be on. Will this cause any problems / damage to the car?.
When I get the ECU Re-mapped, I have been told they can re-map this out and the CEL will not illuminate. I am aware of the CEL electronic fixes, but it doesn't seen worth messing with the ECU for just a short period of time.Would you agree?
