TypeR Vs MY99 UK Running Costs
#1
Hi
Has anyone any experience of both types as I'm not sure I fancy a vastly more expensive car to run (insurance aside).
Are the standard (98/99) Type Rs similar price to run as the non TypeR STi of the same age ?
Any comparisons much appreciated

i ran a 98 uk and now a 00 ra so close.
Servicing very similar but specialists tend to be cheaper so the ra is cheaper to service.
Parts - a lot are common so no really difference and wear out at same rate, well mayeb the RA brakes take a bit more punishment than the 98
Fuel my 98 ran on super my ra runs on optimax and booster. 98 did about 23mpg the RA does about 18mpg.
Insurance is double for me but the ra is far more modified than the 98

Cheers Chris,
The fuel bill was my biggest concern and it sounds like its a mighty jump. I used to run a Unichipped MY93 at 280BHP which was doable but I dont want anything worse.
The MY99 UK was a go between but just not fruity enough
Wondering what a standard STi will do MPG wise compared to the Type R as maybe thats the next compromise up.
