Thumbs up

Had my MY03 WRX STi for 4 months and love it but at just under 4000rpm it runs badly. If you stay at this rpm the revs fluctuate and if you accelerate beyond 4000 there's a stutter and then it goes. This seemed to improve after I had the PPP fitted but it seems to have got worse recently. I only use Optimax. Can any of you guys tell me if this is normal or if there's a problem before I go back to the dealer. (Just for the record my wipers are also c!*p and my brakes squeak when reversing) Cheers!!

Haven't noticed the hesitation on mine (STi8 non-PPP).

My wipers are ok.

Yep my brakes screetch when I reverse but only normally the first or second time during the same reverse then it goes away. I was told it was something to do with the calipers and happens on most cars with this type of brakes......Don't know if that is true or not!

i've done just over 20k in mine and have not had the problem until ~19k. the 20k service did not fix it. the hesitation is, as you say, just under 4k in 2-6 and especially in 5+6.

I'm going to run it for another 1-2k before doing anything to see if it's a blip.

brakes have always squeeked in reverse, wiper relay makes a tick at slowest setting, I/C spray bottle emptys of it's own accord, ICE is sh1te, eats optimax if you drive it properly. Pretty good i'd say

Welcome to SN

"wipers are also c!*p"

Mine we terrible too mate, always left mist on the window and the only bit that ever dried was where they wipers cross in the middle. Dealer changed em for free at the 10k service

Some scooby brakes always squeek in reverse, just as you apply the brake or there abouts.

brakes

Not sure about the stutter, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Had the same in my 03WRX and found that Optimax actually made it worse. Eventually I got the dealer to look at it and they found fault codes in the ECU which they cleared. Since then the car has run sweetly most of the time.

Recently I had to fill up with Optimax and I noticed the hesitation/stuttering came back. Have since consumed several tanks of Esso SUL and although better it isn't as smooth as it was.

Bonkers! I haven't got a clue why it's happening when others swear by Optimax.
