Question

Ok, so this is a major moot point as, a) I don't have the scooby anymore , and b) I'm not living in the UK any more, but I still want to know...

Have read parts of the posts about BP Ultimate and knocklink lighting up like xmas tree. One question to those who tried it, did you reset the ECU after filling up?

Someone did mention on an IWOC post about a possible weak spot in the ECU and this prompted me to ponder if the ECU had been reset. Guess it depends on the MY as I *think* 01's and later auto reset (or is it just the 03/04's?).

Also, anyone used it with a 97/98 RON optimised ECU map? What about those with ECUTek, Link, Motec, or GEMS, anyone had any problems?

As said, just curious to know if it really is a bad fuel problem, or just the ECU needing a kick in the backside?

Anyone reported this problem to BP? if not then I think it should be reported, as my guess is that Ultimate is being billed as 'the' fuel to be used for performance cars, and if we're finding it's causing more det than Optimax then that is not right.

MY01 WRX TEK 3 mapped by Bob Rawle for Optimax.

Only ever get 1 green on Optimax.

With BP Ultimate reset ECU and headed off, on the A22 under hard acceleration in 3rd, around 5-6k revs I certainly illuminated the first orange constantly.

I didnt reset my ECU, as I was on my way to Santa Pod when I needed to fill up

I do get some activity on the KL using Optimax, and this also shows up on Delta Dash, and is extremely consistent

However with the BP Ultimate, the KL lit up to the Red (doesnt on Optimax) and several more flickers higher up the rev range in 3rd/4th gear

I since havent tried it again, but I may do at some point, so I can Delta Dash it, and try it against different ECU's as I have a MY00 with an AE800 ECU, but I have an AE802 ECU too that I can try it with (as I know this runs a bit richer than the 800)

IMHO if you want to compare BP ultimate to optimax you shouldn't reset the ecu cos if it didn't det on optimax, and it does on bp, then bp is not so good.

Your re-maps optimised for Optimax/Ultimate, what is the ignition timing before top dead center with that into account?

What is the timing set for standard 91 octane petrol?

Thanks

A third of the way into my first ever tank of Ultimate my knocklick starts doing its Xmas tree impression I put a whole litre of OB in and it quietened down. Next tank of Esso SUL was just fine as it always has been
