hi,

First of all I'm sorry if you've already covered this 1000 times but, what are the differences between a UK adn a JAP spec STi8??

My brother-in law is about to part-ex his EVo6 TME for one:

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&make=SUBARU&model=IMPR EZA&variant=sti&keywords=&min_pr=20000&max_pr=&mil eage=&agerange=1&postcode=&miles=60&max_records=50 &source=0&photo=1&sort=3&start=5&distance=9&adcate gory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200343117489541

from Langtree Garage, they say its has 310BHP (which I don't doubt), and which is significantly more than a UK version!

Is it similar to an STi PPP?

And, finally, what should he expect it terms of driving from his current Evo? Brakes? Pick-up? handling? Better -or Worse??

Oh, and is the world flat??

Cheers for your help!

Ash,

A MY03 WRX STi jap spec will not break 300bhp unless it has had the ECU re-mapped for UK fuel.

Mine has been re-mapped, with a better flowing exhaust which gave me 321bhp at Well Lane back in October.

SPEN555,

cheers

but they are advertsing it with 310bhp - surely this can't be just the fuel grade????

I don't think any standard jap car has managed over 300bhp on the rollers.

The gentlemen's agreement they have in Japan is 280ps or 276bhp.

I have seen 310bhp banded about a few times now and I don't believe the figures.

Ask them if it's a standard car, if they say yes, then ask how it can be 30bhp more than the cars in Japan coupled with running lower octane fuel.

Yeah I Know about the 'gentlemens agreement' thing, but theres not way any Skyline R33/34 left with only 280bhp, and his (brother-in-law) exisiting TME has been dyno'd at 315bhp - and thats completely standard.
Apparantely its a different ECU!!!???
I don't know, but you're right!! He should ask the garage for a full spec!
