Question

The car is a '97 Type-R.

When I pull off, with the diff in standard, non-locked position (or in any other position for that matter) up to about 7-8mph (especially if the steering wheel is turned quite a bit) the wheels spin and I feel a sort of juddering etc.

After that, it's fine, bloody awesome in fact ;0)

Is this suppoed to happen, or is my diff on the way out?
also, tried reversing in the diff lock position..LOL, NO CHANCE. simply would NOT reverse.

Well, it would but V E R Y jerky and loud!!

Any help will be VERY VERY VERY VERY much appreciated

cheers,
Matt

Wink

Have you tried lifting the throttle out of the carpet slightly?

Hi , i have a Type RA, there's a translation of the instruction booklet on SN somewhere that basically says, you will feel vibration/noises etc when doing slow turning manouevers, ie parking etc. Mine jingles slightly when reverse parking, but i think thats my rear STI plate diff.
You probably shouldnt have the diff in the locked position unless its very wet/snowy or on gravel (well so the manual says) and doing so will cause vibration/noise but the manual says it won't cause any damage - but if you ask me, anything that sounds/feels like that cant be doing it much good either. Also , you should only be althering the DCCD when your moving and all your wheels are on the ground (!)
Also if you pull the handbrake slightly so the light on the dash comes on, it disengages the centre diff, so you can park etc without altering your DCCD wheel.
Hope that helps!
