engine failures how common?
hi,
i'm posting on behalf of my brother he has an impreza turbo 99T that has just had a catastophic failure. the conrod on number two cylinder has snapped & basically wrecked the engine over £3,500 worth of damage. it has been serviced regularly by a registered subaru dealer (actually more frequently than specified) but the dealer is saying that because it is high milage (@ 62,000 miles!!)they are having nothing to do with it!!... an independent engineer reckons it may be a faulty component anybody had similar problems?? he wants to get them to at least meet half way on costs or something...
thanks

Is the car car modified in any way? If it is then you'll have no chance. The case needs to be taken up with Subaru UK, unless the dealers make the claims for you (doubtful)
Same here. If the parts were supplied by subaru they have 12 months warranty on them. I spoke to tradin standards and they said that it the damage to the engine was caused by a faulty part which they fitted then they should pay for it. Engineer is lookin at mine to
no mods whatsoever standard car. like i said regularly serviced by an authorised dealer the last service was about 2-3 weeks before the engine gave up. never really been thrashed either driven fast but not ridiculously so...
