Just wondered how they compared to the old shape?? I've read that they aren't quite as quick and that they have lost a bit of steering feel, but handle better...anyone got any other thoughts on them?? Well Lane in Batley have got them for £18,295 - can anyone beat that for brand new in a choice of colours?
Cheers

In a word yes.......I drove a blob eye and it was pretty good. Much better brakes than my classic, a little bit slower in terms of acceleration, great handling, better interior. Just a better all round car IMHO.
Too expensive for what you get though. Wait a short while and they'll depreciate by a good few quid.

unfortunately I want one now!!
There isn't an 'us and them' culture between the old and new ones, is there? cos I've been desperate to own one for the last 5 years - but I only dare risk a brand new one as I've had loads of fingers burned in the past...
Anyone know the new OTR (UK) price cos I can't find it anywere on the net?

James,
OTR prices are on the Subaru UK website.
WRX 4 door list is £19,995. Mica/Metallic paint is £250 extra. There are discounts to be had, but the big discount mentioned earlier in this thread is not typical of the dealer discounts generally available for a new car(in my experience).

I can humbly recommend it, had mine from new and done just over 8k in it and thoroughly loving it, never made a better decision in my life
Technically i got the basic car for 18,500 from a Subaru dealer, after much haggling

If you're going to well lane they have my old classic on a Y with only 12K miles. Minter. No finger burning there (Except they're asking 13995 for it & only paid the guy I sold it to 12000!!!).
IMHO, If you're looking at a WRX then a std UK turbo is preferable. The 03 STi....well that's another story entirely........

James i've just bought an 03 WRX and fitted PPP and STi wheels (resprayed anthracite), upgraded the ICE and security. Three year unlimited mileage warranty - and there are deals to be done on UK cars. I went for silver because even a three month old black one in the showroom had loads of really small scratches visible in the paint and black is a mare to keep clean.
I think they are a bit more powerful than the Classics and 02 bugeye's (225PS this year)in std trim and have other benefits such as interior, suspension/handling etc. I like the look better than the bug eye (sorry bug eye owners) and think that this car is now a brilliant alrounder, more economical and less harsh than the STi but goes really well with alot more mid range - with the Pro Drive Performance Pack fitted.
All obviously just my opinion for what it's worth - everyones different but go for a new one if you can afford cos lots of people thrash the hell out of scoobs!!
I'm chuffed to bits

had my 03 wrx for a week, and already well into modding.......promised the missus i wont but what she don't know etc!!had a sti 6 type r and a uk turbo before and if given the choice would probably stick with the 03 better quality, looks etc and once played with i think they can be as good if not better than a classic, but again its all down to personal preference

That must be a real change from an STi6 to a UK WRX going take some modding to get that power to weight back about 320bhp. Gonna need a turbo change .

chrisp, the ratio of fith on a 03 WRX is a cats **** hair off 6th on an 03 STi so it won't make any difference as you percieve it could.
In short you just have more choice of gears for the given ratio spread - means you can be in the right gear most of the time for max power but don't forget you probably lose half a second every time you change gear - hence the 0-60 times of WRX PPP and STi PPP are very similar even tho the STi has more power and torque - not saying the WRX is better - just a bit easier to drive. To me six gears is a negative.

MY03+PPP is the best all round car I've ever had
I bought it end of July and can honestly reccomend it to anyone. As I said to Macka on a previous thread the for practical family use, quality ride/handling, with a leather interior which is superb with no rattles/sqeaks, coupled with a fantastic performance for the money paid makes the car a bargain and a joy to be in

Well I've gone and done it - I've signed for a new Impreza!!!!
It's a blue WRX.
Took it for a test drive - mmmm may need to tune it a bit!! It didn't feel as responsive as my Golf TDI130 - but the handlng was SO SO much better - didn't have a chance to test it properly as the full test drive was in a 30 limit...
Any owners near Hull??

Yep - some of the old model owners have a major chip on their shoulders about the bug and blob eye
You should have been here when the MY01 WRX came out
Buy one - they are all great
