Question

I've done a search on the val1 and read the info which were dated from a few months ago.

I was going to get a bel990 but it seems that the val1 is rated as being better?

Why didn't it win the EVO test when it (val1) has won loads of others? I missed that edition!!

Is the Val1 suited more to LHD? It seems big.
The Bel990 seems to have unecessary extra channels?
They are both legal?
Prices & suppliers? Val1 - 500 squidily diddlelies and 240 for the bel990 is what I've been quoted so far.

Any info would be appreciated bearing in mind that I want the best one that I can get.
Many tanks cybo people.... you are real aren't you

Hello

£240 for a Bel990? Where was that? I was very impressed with my mates but he paid £350, a "special price" for EVO readers!!!!!!
I would appreciate it if you could tell me where that was advertised or even give a phone no. as I think I might invest in one myself!!!

I bought the Bel 990 and paid £315 inc postage next day.
Performance on Aberdeen - Dundee rd (about 10 Gatso`s in each direction)is adequate, although it gives varying warnings ranging from 50 meters to 200 meters which I cannot explain as everything else seems equal. Also it obviously warns you to the Gatso`s on the opposite carriageway ( not necessary) very early as they are facing the detector.
However , I am glad to have it.

Ernie,
That was a typo! The Bel 990 was 340GBP not 240! oops

Dave - where did you get yours for 315??

Anybody else got any experience with the VAL1 or BEL990?

One supplier is saying one the best and vice versa....

I have a Bel 990. False alarms are low as unused bands can be switched off. I would have liked the V1's direction indicators though. Loads of warning for Gatso's, but it can be confusing with multiple Gatso sites (Avonmouth Bridge, Bristol, M5). City mode on the Bel is not good as it does not reduce sensitivity on K bands. Therefore, in the "city" I switch the unit off.

I'm sure I remember reading that the TVR club had obtained a good deal to get the Bel at £300. I'll wait a while longer (should be about £200 in about 6 months time)
