Hi peeps, I've had my wrx(my03) for just over a month now and I'm disapointed with the durability of the paintwork. I noticed some bird droppings on the rear quarter so I immediately got to removing them incase it marked the paint. After washing the car I had a closer inspection and was horified to see that the droppings had reacted with the paint and had left a marks. The car has been treated with supagaurd which I thought would give it a little bit of protection but no. Is this normal or should I be taking it back to the dealer? My previous car (VW Golf) was never marked by bird dropping even if they were left for a week or more, whats with the shoddy paint on these cars?

That doesnt sound good mate, ive got the same car, although in silver and i swear an ostrich took a dump on my spoiler once (it couldnt possibly have been a normal bird! unless it exploded), but it came off with a bit of elbow grease, no mark left. I wax mine with T-cut if i remember rightly, maybe something to do with the wax?

After having a string of NEW Golfs over the last twenty plus years, I am gobsmacked to see any one think the Suabaru paintwork is inferior. The last Golf I had was an R32 which I kept for all of three months before getting a FULL refund due to crap paint. My STI is fabulous compared to any of my last seven or eight golfs. With the latest water based paints vey little (perhaps none) cars will with stand bird sh*t, this depends to a very great amount on what said ****ehawk was eating before he dumped on your pride and joy............... berries, ugh I just hate berries!

You should have a look at Toyota's paintwork if you think a Scooby's bad. Took the Toyota back to the dealer and was told to sue or sod off. Head office told me it was nothing to do with them and to contact the dealer and a solictor told me the costs involved wasn't worth the hassle.............

To anyone looking......DO NOT BUY A TOYOTA, the car in front is ****

totaly depends on what the birds been eating and drinking, if its been on a all day domestos bender then your paintwork is ****ed bigstyle

Flannel, buy some swissol wax to help protect the paintwork. Bird muck etc then easily washes off.
