Slightly worried about this and need to know if its just a feature of the car on cold mornings

I have a MY93 WRX and it was very cold this morning and the car was frozen. I drove 25 miles at 80MHP and the temp gauage didn't move. There was heat coming through the heater but it wasn't till I stopped in the car park that the gauge moved to the normal position. Is this normal??????????

I agree but i've never known a car to take so long thats why I wanted to know if it was normal for an Impreza engine to take ages to warm up when its cold. All the GTE's, RS Turbo's I've had warm up well before I've arrived at work.

My wrx (also MY93) doesnt take more than about 5 mins to warm up and thats driving under 2k revs. Does sound like a fault with the temp gauge if you did 25 miles at approx 80mph!

I agree with the above , mine warms up quickly and the temp guage is about 1/2 way after about 5 mins , get it looked at .

I'm in the process of booking it into the garage. Thank you for your help.

I only drive 2 miles into work, and the water temp guage is at its normal operating temperature (about half way) when I arrive.

Car is an STI5
