What is this for?

Its the bit that stops the pedal going any further down and is sort of screwed into the floor. When taken out the throttle body seems to open more. Is this plastic stop there to set the opening of the throttle body. I am a little worried that the throttle plate is opening to full and then back on itself. 98 WRX BTW

Any thoughts?

I think there is a physical stop on the throttle body. But don't rely on me for that answer

I kept catching it so I unscrewed it and filed it in the wheelie bin, never seemed to be of any use anyway, and the accelerator goes that little bit further down now scwing

It is possible that the butterfly valve will go overcentre without the stop and damage the valve and the throttle body!
