Daft female.......needs help.

Hi,
I am really looking for some help.I have 5k burning a hole in my pocket and want a Subaru Impreza WRX.Now i guess i can get one about 93/94 for that money and add to it as i go.
I have looked at one which appears to be quite clean, well looked after, and plenty of paper work for services etc.
Now here comes the blonde bit.............how do i know for sure that it is a WRX? Its not mentioned on the log book.........i appreciate all the spec differences but is there something obvious which visually sets it apart?
I apologise for the stupid question, but i want to learn, and dont want to buy a heap.
Thanks and sorry.
Jazzie

dodgy looking rear fog light hanging off the rear bumper.
Low mileage.
...actually the SIDC faq is your best bet.
I know someone selling a lovely silver WRX for £5900ish!
Maybe a bit far from Norfolk though, this one's in Bournemouth.

just one thing jazzie1 when marc adv it may have a red top you'd know once you saw it if it did or not? it as a red inlet manifold on the top..the wrx doesn't have this its just the STI's visually unless its been debadged that is, it should have WRX in either block or bubble writing on the boot. the speedo should also read in kph unless otherwise changed and as per prev notes the S/h should be of jap origin.

*If you haven't driven one before they ALL go like rockets!
WRX's also TENDED to have alloy bits (bonnet, bootlid etc) though it seems that this is not a given.
The Powder coated Red inlet manifold (apparently this colour is "Cerise" not Red) is on the STi's only. Which is a shame, because it looks lovely.
As the engine is a Flat 4, the rocker covers are at the sides, not on top!
Numberplate hole will probably be Japanese sized too.
After all, a WRX was _only_ available as an Import from Japan.

Have had a look at two............
First one was 94 L 76K in a really dark blue...£6000
This seemed to have everything, including stale smoke as an interior.
Second one seemed more subtle,silver,50k but no rear spoiler and no front fogs, should that be a concern? This was up for £4995

no lights at all where fogs wood be sounds a bit unusual, but there are a few models which as standard dont have a rear spoiler, type RA for example which is a VERY quick & nice model so depends on the full spec i guess but means you can equip to yer fancy wood be optimistic way of looking at it

personally i'd be more concerned with history & status of engine etc, eg has it had recent cambelt change as if done every 3 years as per wot it should be worst case then that age maybe due one & that aint cheap although i guess appearances should be good also, hell i'm just paranoid lol. But the phrase of you get what you pay for normally rings true but then paying OTT for a lemon still wont make it any better oh well i'll get me coat
