I just wanted to say hi to everybody - this forum came highly recommended by members of the Evo magazine forum. I have just got my first car - a 97MY Turbo - its got five doors and a boot, which I guess is not as good as a normal sized Scooby, but I have two big dogs that need a lot of walking - somthing that happens a lot more since I brought the car!
Anyway - Hello!

Hi mate,
welcome,
don't believe that the wagon (5dr) is not as good as the saloon.
they are exactly the same! wagon may be a bit heavier, not much though.
performance will be the same as the saloon version of your model.
mine is a lightweight wrx wagon and weighs less than many saloons!
enjoy the car and the forum.

Hi,
I am a newbie to and I have just bought a new 2003 WRX 4 door (silver). It is absolutely IMMENSE and now I know why the dealer staff had such "knowing" grins on their face as they handed me the keys. They did say "No matter what you have driven before you will never have driven anything like this car" and I think they were right. Can't wait to grow old with it (not quite).
Anyone got any tips for me to get the best from it?

wrxmania , welcome to Scooby ownership, look after her and she will bring you great pleasure, remember to let the engine tickover for a while (to stop the turbo cooking) after you have been giving it some wellie , and don't boot it until it's warmed up a bit .Remember to wave to other Scoobies

Thanks to you both for your replies. I feel as if I I have joined some private members club - do I need to sit in leather couches and smoke cigars or is that for Porsche owners only?
I will look after her - I always look after cars and intend running her to a (pleasureable and probably costly) high mileage.
Turbo tips as given by dealer too - thanks.
Stereo is a bit **** as standard - a pity and the dealer (of course) advised me of this and mentioned (of course) their upgrade kit of front + rear speakers, tweeter kit, amp and new Clarion head unit?
Thanks again.

Well, I really wanted a Lancia Intergrale Evo 2, but the insurance was crazy for a 23 year old, as it would have been my first car and no insurance before that drove the price up way to much. So I went to the local Subaru dealer and he took me out for a test drive in this white five door. I thought it was great - but as a rally fan I really wanted a saloon - so one set of OZ Prodrive wheels and a Prodrive exhaust system later - the sale was agreed! I think the car looks a bit funny with big gold wheels (its white!) but it goes round corners and the exhaust sounds good. So if you see me out and about the A696 and the A68 then give us a wave!
Thanks for the warm welcome as well guys, I was told that Scoobynet users were friendly and very well informed - it certainly adds to the ownership exprieance!
