A little bit off, mats, and wheels re-finished in P1 grey.

Edited to say that I did ask for mud flaps, but once the dealer confirmed the price of them in his little book, he said absolutely not!! lol

Question

...what did you get "thrown in" by the dealer ?

By this I mean things like mudflaps, umbrella, watch, etc

Thanks

Foxmod was the first to get this deal , I just followed his lead and marched into the dealer with a "take it or leave it" offer knowing that I could have gone to the one Foxmod used as it is very close too

That said the salesman said I could have a prodrive gearknob too if I put another sale his way

The dealers pay £22645 for a STi8 so ther should be quite a bit of room for them to move on the deal

The dealer I have ordered mine from has serviced my WRX for the last 3 years / 65k miles so this may have helped me get the deal

Top P/X (£2k!!!! better than local dealership here), STi mats, fog lamps & surrounds, side protection strips.

Also got large PPP discount & very reasonable price for selling standard 17" wheels / tyres back to the dealership.

I paid 23.620,44 pounds (converted at today's Euro rate) which apparently was a bargain. The dealer came down 3500 pounds - 15 percent!

I then asked for four mats (designed with the dealers logo - quite pretty) and then some protectors all around the car as I can't park very well :-(

I tried to get a full tank too and more money off but realised this was too cheeky.

Hugh,

which dealer did you get your car from then??

I just had mats thrown in (even though he intially wanted to do a 50:50 on it)

I guess i wanted the car too much!

I'm impressed with some of the savings some of you have made.

I've not actually bought one yet but am in the process of...so how do i go about getting either a substantial amount of goodies thrown in, or a good wedge of cash off ?

I'm a good barterer but don't think I'm that good

I suppose its a case of saying "this is what I've got, take it or leave it,,,"

Where were the decent savings made ? I went to Pulleyns of York and have to say I was very impressed with them. (I'm 23 I thought he was going to laugh at me )

Thanks

Matt

Terzo,
The best way I've found of getting a good discount is if they believe that they have to compete for your business i.e. that they are your 2nd (or third) choice. I bought my first two Impreza's from Stoke even though I lived in Preston. My girlfriend lived in Stoke so it was no hassle for me, but I made it clear that I was only there to get an alternative price compared to my local dealer. Even though at the time there was 6 to 12 month waiting list and dealers didn't generally make deals, they knew that my local dealer would not offer a discount so they only had to offer a small discount to take my business. I bought my current car in Germany, but my dealer here was under the impression he was competing with the UK but didn't realise that the UK was more expensive anyway so I got an very good deal (IMHO)

The dealers have quotas which they all want to exceed, so I would recommend going to your local dealer, get the best price from him, then go to a dealer further away from home and ask him to beat the offer! If he won't you can still go back to your local dealer and probably get a better discount - particularly if you lie and tell him that the other dealer was prepared to match the deal and give you 15% off PPP

Chungster

Went to Pulleyns (York) - dealt with Derryck Whitworth. Very professional despite my insurers (LV) managing to send the docs to the wrong address (twice ). Would certainly use them again.

My local (Herts / Cambs / Beds) couldn't / wouldn't match the deal offered by Pulleyns.

My brother lives in York so not totally mad buying a car from there

Also bought PPP (first that Pulleyns had fitted to a MY03 STi I believe) & 18" rims - not tyres as Pirelli 'donated' these

Chopped in my MY99.

£1500 off. Don't settle for any less, I wish I had got more now! Shop around if you have to.
Use all the tricks in the book, be nice and get to know them, then go in for the hard buy ie. You're about to buy an import or another dealer can beat them, you have the cash in your pocket.
Insult them, its ok to do this, they sell cars.
good luck
Johnny

What did my dealer throw in - hmmmm!!

A set of mats, a half done PDI, a false promise on the wheels that I was buying as an extra (still don't have them or even a firm date for them) and a remote locking system that worked for a grand total of two weeks before malfunctioning. Wanted them to look at it on Saturday, but they're too busy.

Happy - no not really!!!

Sorry - just beginning to feel grumpy about the whole episode - still at least the ITR keeps going with no probs whatsoever.

tiggers.
