Question

Hi all, does anyone know of a decent repair manual for a '96 555 STI RA? Can't find a Haynes book anywhere, don't think they even do one for Imprezas. Tried looking around on the web for Bentley books, they are supposed to be pretty good, but no joy here either.

I've got the Chris Rees "You and your Impreza" book, but really need some technical info because I'm about to do a 4-pot conversion and need to know about bolt torque settings etc.

If anyone's recently done any brake work and has the settings to hand, would really appreciate any info!

Thanks for reading, have a good weekend!

Al, many thanks for your reply!
I'm downloading the pages right now.
You're right about the manuals being rare, when I tried searching the Haynes website I got a message with blurb to the effect that there were not enough imprezas on the road to make it economically viable...yada yada. Swines!
Anyway, thanks again for your time, very much appreciated!
Best wishes,
Mart

Talking

Sounds promising Sticky!
If you get your hands on a book before I do, I wonder if you'd mind letting me know, and of course I'll do the same?
Cheers mate!

Unhappy

From the Haynes web site:

"We have no plans to publish manuals for this vehicle at this time. This may be because the model range has not sold in sufficient numbers and we can't consider doing a manual until there is enough of a particular model on the road for us to be sure of covering our costs"!

The do a book called "You and Your Subaru Impreza Turbo" but AFAIK this is not a workshop manual just a guide for different model type, imports etc.

you can buy the later model STI FULL set of manuals from here

Subaru Techinfo

the paper manuals will set you back about £400, but they're all available as PDF's anyway. To Get them , you can subscribe to the site , $20 buys you 3 days access, which coupled with a handy dandy script i downloaded from somewhere (cant remember) will leach you the full set (400mb) in a few hours at broadband speed.
the manuals for the classics only seem to be covered by the 2.2l and 2.5l versions of the Imprezas they had in the US, but the later WRX Sti's i think are the same ones available in the UK.
contact me if you want the scripts.

Thanks for that link mate, looks useful!
I'd take that script off you, but if it takes a few hours with broadband, I cant see my crap 56k connection getting me anywhere!
Thanks again though
cheers!
