I was under the impression, along with many others on this BBS, that Lateral Performance were presenting a prize to the winner of The Scooby Shoot Out. I appreciate the dilema you faced when it seemed likely I would take the honours and events unfolded in my favour. I had already contemplated, the night before, what I should do if I were in the position where I was expected to shake your hand so I am not insensitive to the situation and the irony of it.
My first two times of the morning were both 12.04secs, times that no other car was able to approach throughout the day so it was pretty obvious when I started turning out 11s as to the likely final conclusion.
In the spirit of the event and so we can put the matter to rest, I suggest you send me a cheque for £100, made out to "Cancer Research" and then we can all move on.

You guys are clearly never going to be able to put it all behind you and move on. It's a pity the guys involved in the top cars in the country have to be soo petty towards one another.
Congrats on the result Harvey, just a shame you can't be content with that very public showing of ability.

Same as Old Fart.

Guys with the most powerful scoobs in the country dont seem to get along.

I thought Mark was giving the winner a set of decals for the car

Harvey, why dont you just email Mark?

I was under the impression that mark changed the category of the prize before the event started.

Am sure steven mentioned this too.

Something to do with it being pointless awarding a prize that someone winning the ET race would already have.

Apparently they weren't measuring reaction time, so the competition commuted over to 60ft time.

Chuck, I don't see why mark ishould be accused of not putting things behind him. He has done nothing but make a sensible decision and hasn't posted here.

Harvey, well done on the result, was hoping someone would knock andy off his throne, but that we will have to wait for, despite this, I don't think it was necessary to post this publically, if you have an issue I think you would be better off emailing mark privately although frankly, had you won the competition I can't imagine mark would have any issue in presenting you with the prize.

Thanks for the good wishes Chuck.
The matter is on the BBS because it started here.
My offer to Mark to put this issue to bed is a genuine one.

Harvey,

no offence but you didnt win. Your request is a nice gesture, but I am just as entitled to ask mark for it as you and I didn't even compete.

Wjere is the confusion here.

a prize was awarded to the winner.

Harvey, if it were genuine then why do it in such a public arena? Someone will lose face and this can only make matters worse. The results speak for themselves, smugness with them is justified.
If you genuinely want to put this all behind you and go forward then ask for this thread to be deleted and email Mark to talk it over.
Adam, Mark has involved himself in politics by the very act of offering a prize. The cynical could easily be persuaded that changing the criteria for winning the prize was done deliberately to minimise the chance of Harvey winning once it was clear that there wouldn't be a Lateral Performance connected car in the running.
As I said it's a shame. Mark is a great guy, I'm sorry we haven't seen more of each other recently and I apologise if anything I've said upsets him.

yes chuck, that is the cynical approach.

but Mark did this before the competition on the basis of giving someone a prize who is more likely to not have it already.

that makes sense to me.

Its not like the competition was changed after the results were achieved.

this whole thing is petty and should not even be being discussed here.

Adam I believe Marks reason for change was genuine also. Not sure what Harvey would do with an uprated fuelpump anyway LOL
Doesn't change anything though, people will believe what they want to believe.

Surely this has all been said and done on Sunday?

Mark even posted "Harvey's performance was fantastic" - doesn't seem to be any problem from that side of the fence?

The same thread says that PeeVee won the prize (an uprated fuel pump) for the fastest reaction time, which is what Lateral were giving prizes for.

Surely the rest is just gossip and assorted crap, so can we close this thread as I can't see any purpose it serves?
Nick.

Steven: I suggest you make that mail public on here.
I am waiting to hear from Mark.
Along with MANY others I was under the impression that Lateral Performance were making a presentation to the winner. Even after the event I was not aware what had happened and Mark had left sharpish. No doubt the man in question can clear this up for everybody himself.

That didn't seem to sway Nito when he put up a Defi Boost Gauge at TOTB, I was more than pleased to accept it even although I clearly already have a boost gauge

The other problem with the reaction time prize was that it was a complete fluke that the guy ran such a low time. Human reaction time is just not that fast. At any other dragstrip a 0.06 seconds rt would have been a red light and deemed a jump start !

Good grief, there's people wanting to perpetuate this above and beyond aren't there?

3 prizes were allocated if I understand it correctly:
- Scoobymania back box, for the final winner, ie Harvey
- Scoobysport drop links, top speed winner, ie Harvey
- Lateral Performance fuel pump, reaction Time, ie PeeVee

Someone should thank the sponsors for putting these up, not jump down their throats! So, despite me not being there, I'm saying thanks to all the sponsors and those involved in making it a successful event! And yes, that includes all the competitors too!

With this talk of "jumping the lights", "disappearing sharpish" etc you'd think this was an unbelievably clandestine event surrounded in mystery and intrigue. It wasn't, it was a great day out and a wonderful event for the scooby community. Why the need to try and snipe again? It's petty.

I know one thing: if I'd have put prizes up for this, I'd tell the community at large to go **** themselves and not bother in the future.

Come on, this was great, let's keep it happy and look forward to other great things like this rather than bitch and moan, persuading everyone involved that it really isn't worth doing in the future?

Cheers,
Nick.
