I'd say, take the laser alert part and put it in the bin, then enjoy the (great) performance of the Road Angel's GPS-based camera detector.
IMHO, even if the laser detector did pick up the laser beam when mounted on your windscreen (unlikely, as the laser's 'beam' of light will probably be only 2 - 3 foot wide and aimed at your number plate). It'll probably only be just be notifying you you've been done!
Get yourself a Target LRC100 diffuser, mount it in the grill just above your front number plate. The LRC100 can be connected to the laser input on the back of the road angel (with an adaptor box) and then you're covered against most cameras/traps (...but not all).
Stan Palmers in Carlisle fitted my road Angel this week for £350 all in, laser module etc including tucking the thin wire (it comes with a thin wire and a coiled wire) all around the screen, dash etc to arrive at the lighter socket.
Tested it today........briliant
Just got mine through thismorning from a group buy advertised on jap uk meets £275+ £6 p&p for the lastest version with laser alert and 1 years subscription
