It had to happen, didn't it...

We've seen all the adverts on TV and I've just walked into WH Smith and bought issue 1 of "Radio Control" with the front left suspension assembly and wheel.

Can't wait for next weeks now...

Expensive way of buying a radio controlled car.

But if you enjoy building the things then go for it.

Why not as suggested on one of the numerous threads about this magazine buy a full kit and just get a bit out of the box each week and save yourself some cash...

That's what everyone at work said - much cheaper to just BUY one.

But I like the idea of building it up myself over the weeks...

I'll probably smash it against a curb, or get it run over in the MaccyD's car park on a Saturday night as soon as I've built in...

Have a look here:

A good model shop!

And tell me you don't think you could get a much better car right now for the same money, and building it up is still a lot of fun

Er, why not just buy the same kit for £80 and put it together one piece per week?

What is it they say about a fool and his money?

Iv'e also got the first edition for £1.99. just can't decide whether or not to carry on with it. I wouldn't especially go out and buy a R/C impreza for around £100-200 whatever they are, but building it yourself makes it a bit special yea ah well maybe not still not sure what to do. You do get 4 free gifts though if you subscribe.

One thing i'm concerned about though how much are they gonna charge for the batteries and charger at the end.

James.

i had to splash out one one last time the scoob was serviced, it looked lonely sitting on the workshop counter all on it's own (£79.99) and it is now smashed to bits due to playing chicken with the post van... DOH....

Don't worry after week 10 or so, when the magazine will be no were to be seen in the shops anymore and you can't be aresd to subscribe, it won't have cost you that much.

Oops, that's done it! Cue the thread deteriorating into an argument about how much better the mag would be if they were giving you the bits to build a Classic!

but building it yourself makes it a bit special yea
So buy a kit one and build it yourself, the vast majority of decent R/C cars come in kits, that's a big part of the fun

Have just checked the specs on the website, didn't realise it was a 2WD. And only capable of 28mph, I think they say 40 on the TV ad. J

the TV ad does say 40... hmmm. Maybe that's it's terminal velocity if you drop it from a high rise?
