I just returned from my first stint on the hunt for a P1/STI7....
I had heard that a local garage in Glasgow had changed to being a Subaru dealership, and the "Grand Opening" was today, so I headed over.
On arrival the garage was in the same state as a menstrual woman....the painters were in!
Outside they had 3 scoobs, but just one WRX, one Forrester and one GSX(?)
Waste of journey.
I then headed over to the "established" local Subaru dealer and went in.
They had a nice looking WR Blue STI 7 in the showroom with no price on it.
I had a sniff around for a while before the arrogant salesman comes over. Obviously thinking I was a time-waster he says "Can I help you?" in a most dis-interested tone, whilst leaning against the door frame of his office that he didn't even bother to vacate before engaging me in conversation.
I asked how much it was, to which he replied "twenty three thousand, five hundred pounds", like I was supposed to be put off or frightened by the figure.
Hmmmm, I said. Does it have the Prodrive Performance Pack at that price?
To which he replied.... "It's an STI".
WTF does that mean?
I know its a bloody STI you patronising w@nk.
Does he know what a PPP is?
Its got "STI-UK" all over the bodywork, not to mention on the seats, the fog covers, the doors etc etc. I can read you know...
Anyway, did he know the answer to my question?
I asked if the car was fettled with to justify the price and he replies with telling me what model it is.
At that I said "thanks anyway" beckoned the better half and fcuked off.
1 potential lost sale you ****.
I got into my Scoob, which was parked outside and let rip as I took off, just to make sure he saw what I drove in with, so as not to be confused with a Nova driving time-waster!!!!!
The search continues!
P.S. Local boys (Glasgow) will know the garage I refer to..... useless w@nks!

So did you enquire about a discount while you were there Nova boy
My past experience of a previous Glasgow Subaru Dealer didn't leave me impressed either. In fact, I've not been that impressed with any of the Subaru Dealer sales folk. Salesmen in general usually = w@nker. At least the lads in servicing/parts are normally down-to-earth.
Chris (R6 CDW) bought his new car from Stan Palmer. Maybe worthwhile taking a trip down to Carlisle for some decent customer relations and a good deal.

PPP is Prodrive Performance Pack.
Basically change of ecu, backbox etc all done by Subaru which aloows you to keep dealer warranty. A classic Scooby fitted with PPP would be a good every day alternative to the STI5, about 40bhp increase over standard classic and same amount of torque.
Wouldn't be as good to drive though.

And the Prodrive/Subaru partnership has been around since Subaru first started rallying cars in the UK. PPP has been available as an approved Dealer upgrade since (IIRC 96/97, certainly 98), so any Dealer worth his salt should know the differences.
God even a salesman on his first day (and his cherry intact) should know that.

It could be worth giving Brian Downie a call if you are looking for an STi 7. Due to the arrival of a very nice 8 his JDM 7 is now for sale or at least it was when I dropped my car off last week. It is WR blue, well maintained and, AFAIK, unmodifed. His Tel. No. is 01467 643546. Hope this helps with your search
