FACT Filled my 03 wrx up with optimax done 300 miles some of it quite hard driving, filled it up again it took £36 of optimax
= 300 miles for £36

I cannot beleive some people say they only get 150-200 from a full tank if they do their car must be shagged or ****ed

Cool

About 30 mpg, so not bad going. I've managed that myself a few time in my MY98 WRX on longer motorway journeys. Around town things aren't quite so rosy however, which is probably where most of the scare stories about Impreza economy (or lack of it) come from.

Well I pussyfoot around in my STI7 and still only manage about
22 to 23 mpg.
There is no way on earth i could ever get 300 miles on a tank full.
I'd have to push it the last 60 miles!!!

Yesterday I got 265 miles and topped up with 42 litres. But i think it wasn't completely full last time, so might be a bit better than that.

I'm now logging all my miles/litres/cost in a spreadsheet to see exactly how much this is costing me. I've got a feeling I won't like the figure by this time next year...

I only really notice after a long motorway run, and that's normally 32mpg !!!

Town driving still kills the wrx, but a good thrash doesn't seem to absolutely knacker the economy

i`ve had 2 STI8`s none PPP and I always get 200ish miles on 10 gallons of super (20/22 mpg) but I`m always bobbin about not long motorway runs.

Did a run to Bridlington and managed 26mpg, with some hard driving in there too.

I got 3 MPG on Friday.

Arrived in Taunton and fuel light came on as I entered the town. Went to in-laws and unpacked the car etc then asked my father in law where the local Shell was so I could fill up. We left home for a 3 mile trip and after sitting in a traffic jam for 50 minutes, ran out of petrol as I entered the service station.

By my reckoning that is 3 MPG, I knew it was a mistake going to the in-laws.

Hmmmm.....

I only get between 220 and 270 from my 03 PPP. Reckon it would probably manage 300 on a tank on a long motorway run if I could exercise a little restraint.

Lol, welcome newbie. While the newer cars do have slightly better fuel economy than the older ones, methinks the key here is your definition of "quite hard". Sounds like you haven't learned to drive it properly yet...

My absolute best in a MY03WRX PPP on a full tank (£42) is 349 miles until the light comes on.

I never run mine to empty but typically get 230 miles for £30 of petrol (it was 82.6/litre for Esso super unleaded today). It has improved quite a bit over the 6000K miles I have done.

My average weekly drive is 50% motorway, 50& traffic conditions.

My only truly happy time when going for petrol is leaving and watching the gauge move in the other direction for once.

LOL Zippy & Boro!

It's a warped mind that makes us Scoobynetters buy one of the least fuel efficient cars on the road - and then do regular mpg calculations to confirm what we knew when we purchased. It won't improve - but we just have to keep checking.

Those that claim 32mpg?! - can only assume was all downhill without touching the loud pedal, or you need a new slide rule.

Spirited driving in my STi8, with a few mods, saw me filling back up with Optimax (admitedly only about half a tank or so) after having driven 92 miles from the previous fill.

The fill up cost me just over 22 quid, at 79.9p per litre.

That's 15 mpg...

However, good motorway cruising will indeed see around 240 miles to a tank full - so getting close to 20 mpg.

Who cares???????? If you do, sell your Impreza and buy a Golf TD or summut.

I was very surprised to get 30mpg out of my 03 on a reasonably long run at the weekend.

General around town stuff returns about 22mpg, although its only done 2000 miles so is loosening up and the mpg is getting better.

Having said that, the Mrs drove it back and stuck to 70.

Lowest ever was 5.8 mpg at donington last year in the RA
