Was driving up my street minding my own we have loads of nice speed bumps so i'm doing about 10mph theres a group of people up ahead waiting to cross the road when the bloke in the group walks in front of me an shows me his middle finger ..nice.I pulls up and asks him what his problem is at which point he takes a couple of swings at me he then spouts on about i'd scared his kids half to death by revving my engine and driving like a loon .I inform him that i have kids myself,I don't drive like a loon as 10mph isn't fast he looks in the back of my car and spys the baby seat and tells me to **** off and wanders on his merry way,a shining example to his young kids.Anyone else had such run ins just for owning a flash car as he called it.

A few times! I remember one hick was battering on about how I was a complete w@nk in my £60,000 car !!! I didn't have the heart to tell him its only worth about a 6th of that!
I've been pre-judged a few times in the scooby and it was argueably worse than when I had the saxo

Up to that point i had only experienced the nice side of scooby ownership .I had a Mondeo as my last car so never got any grief from it i mean who the hell is jealous of a rusty old Mondeo didn't cross my mind untill after todays incident that he'd obviously got it in for me because of my car and his excuse for revving the engine (which i didn't) was just an excuse to have a pop at me.This guy is obviously a complete w**ker who needs to get a life.

Happened to me a few times while I had a cozzie, to early to know if I will get the same type of hassle with my scooby .
I usually ignore people like that (absolutely no interest in fighting someone because they take an instant offence at my car) but once or twice (bad day I guess) I have taken the bait (Know I should not and regret what might have happened afterwards) and gone absolutly ******* mad. They (so far) have decided to rethink the situation and STFU.
I drive for pleasure, I dont hassle anyone else and expect the same in return.
It so sad really that these people exist.

bear in mind that you can be doing 5 mph in a scoob, or idling, and the engine sounds pretty "keen"...
He may have thought that you were going for it, even just trundling along you can sound quite "Loud".
...and to be honest I'm sick of some **** around our estate driving like Steling Moss. One day, I *will* have a go at 'em. (Note that I'm not saying this is how you drive at all! it's just you may have caught him on a very bad day...)
If this was your street, you're better off sorting it amicably before you find your tyres slashed etc. Make it known that you can't stand people speeding in the area, and support your neighbourhood watch (if you have one) as these people will normally try to do something if someone is being a pest speed-wise. You could just have been an easy target for something that is a problem (but isn't you being the problem)
Hope you see what I mean with this! Have a word, keep the locals sweet and looking out for you rather than have them against you.
Cheers,
Nick.

I hate to tempt fate, but I have never had anything but nice comments from people. Once I was sat in a service station on my own quite late at night and three really dodgy looking lads pulled up, gave me the eye etc. When they came out, two got into their crapped out metro and the other walked over to my car. I shat myself for a second, but rather than pulling a knife he said, in his best black country accent 'just wanted to say yaow car is fooking bostin' mate'
I didn't know what to say

All i ever get is nice comments about my scoob.. although the other day at some lights , an asian guy opened the passenger window of his escort and said
"What have you eaten in that mate???"
I thought for a minute, and said
"only *****"
The lights changed and i shot off.. i think he was still sitting at the lights when they turned to red again , trying to work it out

Theres no doubt my car is probably pretty loud it has a Blitz Spec R on and I would be an obvious target for Mr Angry in my town there is one Scoob(mine) an Evo VII and everything is pretty normal.Iv'e lived here since 1976 so i know the locals well can't say i recognised Mr Angry though. Our whole estate is covered in speed bumps but out local Burberry crew still delight in seeing how fast they can go over them ,the guy could well be as fed up with them as me BUT i wouldn't walk in front of a moving vehicle flip the driver my middle finger and then try to punch his lights out in front of my kids, after all in todays enviroment who knows what the driver may do.
Nick, know what your saying on this at the end of the day as someone has said don't hassle anyone so don't want it in return but the missus is now capaigning for her own car in case Mr Angry spots her driving and has another go.

Job done - don't let the wife drive
More seriously, if you don't recognise him (try to) write it off as experience, which is admittedly easier said than done. Give him the benefit of the doubt - perhaps he'd had a bad day, a scoob ran over his dog once, that sorta thing and just wanted to vent?
Cheers,
Nick.

chiark, you are too diplomatic mate!
I'm afraid if it were me being subject to an assault by a mindless ******* like this, I'd have eaten him alive!
Temper problem? Me? Who you ******* looking at?
Seriously though, your self control is to be admired.

I fail to understand how someone can throw a couple of punches at you and if nothing else you don't knock him spark out purely in self defence. Were you sitting in your car at the time?

Its called 'deflected anger' when some one is angry inside they deflect their agression to another person. They are looking for an excuse to let off steam. A loud 'flash' car is an excuse for this behaviour. Obviously best to ignore this type of person - unless you have to finish it quickly. Best to forget about it.

We always feel that given a confrontational situation we should stand up to some one who has acted unfairly to us and we always feel guilty/beat ourselves afterwards as we replay the situation in our minds for not have acted more agresively and positively. This is no bad thing as it is natural to feel this way. No one was hit so that is good and life goes on.

The instances I mentioned earlier never occured with my street/neigbours. Just the odd *** when I was out and about in my car.
I can understand the problems if you have trouble in your area with ppl driving like mad around your area (as another mentioned he may have finally lost it), and mabey you were mistaken for one of them.
However his behavior was unacceptable coupled with it's effecting your wifes decision to drive the car.
As for your decision, I personaly do knot know what I would do in this situation, but hypothetically I would probably wait and see if anything else happens (usually these thing blow over and its nothing to worry about).

When was younger i and few mates all had Renault5Turbos, and had a few "interesting" things like that happen--
Trundling down road at 20mph to take car for MOT when middle aged woman screams at top of her voice while swinging a dog chain at the car "SLOW DOWN YOU ****ING NUTTER!!!" It wasnt even a loud exhuast! Was a Magnex, about the quietest aftemarket exhaust you can buy!
And worse than that--
Was coming home from college one day down a dual carridgeway when a lorry ploughed into side of car, killing my friend.
5 old ladies (OAPs) who was all crammed into one car gave witness statments along these lines "A small silver car shot past us like a rocket at increible speed. The noise was like a low flying aeroplane" If police took notice of them id probably be in prison now. Luckily the police are a bit more thorough, they concluded through tests at the scene etc that it was ALL the Lorrys fault and i was doing a MAXIMUM of 56mph in a 70mph limit!
In the 3years ive had the cossie i dont think ive ever had any member of the public mistakenly think i was driving in a way i wasnt, even though the car is incredibly loud, but the police accuse me of all manor of false things.
Just bought a Skyline R32GTR, hopefully the police and the mentaly unsound public both leave me well alone now...

I can understand both sides - you get idiots speeding round our estate, particularly on the only straight - about 200m, the main place where kids play, and this year I have actually had to talk to an idiot in a focus **** who is always driving up it at about 40 (about twice whats safe id say). That said, a kid up the roads got a barryed up nova and if he keeps up as he is now, ill have to speak to him too. That said, im always polite. Sadly the ****wits I talk to never are.

I have only had positive comments, only Yesterday washing the car I had 3 young lads come up and start chatting to me about our cars (STi8, 03 WRX, P1, Lexus SC430 and a Mitsubishi Warrior). I always take time to speak to them as you never know what will happen when they are older. I would hope that if they were ever with some mates who were ar$ing about they would never touch the cars. They asked me about the security cameras and I told them they are on 24/7 although the bloody things have been broken for about 2 years, DOH!!!!

Someone punched the roof of my integrale as I drove along the street at 20mph while I was running it in I wasn't speeding (for obvious reasons) I wasn't making a nucense (sp) of myself (again obvious reasons) but this older guy (50s?) stood in the middle of the road as I drove down it and hit my car as I drove past I never did catch up with him because I was too busy checking for damage but luckily there was none.
