Right, I've decided....
Since P1 values are dropping to sensible levels and since I have just found out that insurance is not the nightmare I expected, I have decided its time to get a P1.
Oh, have to get rid of mine first!
I'll take her along to the main dealer and see what I get offered, and if it's a cr@p one, then I'll try and sell her privately.(note lack of enthusiasm)
I couldn't believe it when I found the difference in premium my current insurer want to change from a MY00 UK Turbo worth "book value" to a MY00 P1, also worth book value.....
Have a guess......
Go on......
Ok, £47. Yes, not a typo.... forty seven pounds!!!!
What the ****!?!?
Why am I sitting here typing when I should be out on the prowl?
Anyone wanting a nice MY00 saloon, check my profile for web address and make me an offer, and help make my transition go smoother!

Yes it is for my mate
Ill let him know again, he is trawling round the dealers today in the hope that he can find one
Not sure wether he would want all the mods or not, but I can ask, and show him your web site
Cheers

Talizman, you're probably on a winner, but just one small note of caution:
Just because your underwriter only wants a pittance to change your current policy to a P1, doesn't mean you won't be stung by a huge rise come renewal time.
Before you throw yourself headlong into a search for the perfect beast, it might be worth phoning round a few insurers getting specimen quotes on your current car, and then on a P1 to get an idea what the "real" premium differential is. If it's only a pittance, it's full steam ahead, but if it's a big hike, take it as a sign that your renewal, when it comes, will contain a similar jump.
Always better to know this sort of thing before, rather than after!

Sonic, i take it your mate's after a Classic UK Turbo? If so i've an immaculate blue MY99 with 51k on the clock, totally original spec and non abused, supplied and fully serviced by the same main dealer from new, warranty and MOT'd til August 2004, air con and electric sunroof(factory fitted), gear box lock, new tyres and brakes that i will be advertising next week for £10,950 but if he's quick and saves me the hassle of advertising and dealing with tyre kickers etc i'd probably let him have it for £10,000.
Before every one starts saying i've seen one advertised for £8-9,000 etc please save your breath as i've seen them as well and you get what you pay for and there aren't too many Classic's around with my mileage, history and condition, not forgetting air con and sunroof that are available for sale. You also know that this car will still be worth £10,000 in 3 years time if looked after and the mileage is kept down.

greasemonkey,
Cheers for the advice, I know exactly what you mean.
I think I'm safe however; what I did was get 2 online hypothetical quotes (UK Turbo and P1) from the same insurer and the difference was as quoted. I haven't asked for a chageover quote yet as I'll be looking to insure the P1 (hopefully) at renewal time. (next month - fingers crossed!)
You should try it to see the difference....
Get online quotes from say, Admiral or Elephant for the 2 cars and see how little the difference is. Startling!
*sonic*
No probs mate.
slasha,
2 things mate.
1) If you read sonic's post, you will see that his mate has bought a car and is no longer looking.
and 2) its impolite to "hi-jack" threads, since this is my thread about buying a P1 and SELLING mine.
Thank you

Just checked my quotes and my sums aren't quite right!
MY00 UK Turbo worth "book", SDP 10k miles per annum --- £1129.80
MY00 P1 worth "book", SDP 10k miles per annum --------- £1187.55
Difference to changeover - £57.75 (not £47 as previously miscalculated!)
Both quotes are saved and I m guranteed them for 30 days.
Oh yeah, they'll protect my bonus for £27.30!!!!!!!
Someone pinch me and wake me up.
Oh yeah, and someone buy my bloody Scoob!!!!!!

Talizman,
2 things mate 1) So i'm not polite, does that mean we won't be hanging around together anymore?
2) Look at the time difference between the posts. Do you think i'd have gone to the trouble of typing that lot out after reading that post?
