Exclamation

Just got my car back from insurance bodywork repairers.

Not particuarly happy with the paintjob (MY03 Black) they have done...

On close inspection there is an obvious paint drip that has dried down one door (easy to spot when looking down the line of the car)... but there are a number (10-15) of small pin bumps visible as well (looks like a dust particle has been covered with paint as it's dried).

Question is, am I realistic in asking for the work to be redone, or are the 'imperfections' something I have to live with once a car has had to be repaired in this way?

Any advice appreciated as I'm going back to the bodywork place in 15 minutes...

Agree with Yoza, pay for a job to be done, accept nothing less than the best.

But am I right in expecting a 'just out of the factory' finish?

I think so, but not sure...

Thought I'd post a little update on this.

Took the car back and they sorted out the main obvious paint drip and dust pimples in 45 mins while I waited (not sure how?!)

Gave the car the once over, drove home happy.

Looked at thr car again this morning and 2 other things need sorting!!!! -

1) Paint/Lacquer has been sprayed over the small rubber seal between the window frame and the roof...as the rubber has contracted with drop in temp overnight, overspray has cracked and is nastily obvious (horrible jagged edge when looking down the car side roofline

2) A whole load of clear overspray (lacquer again?!) can be seen (and felt) on the inside of the rear passenger window???!!!!

They were not open today, so taking car back in again on Monday.

Getting a little peed off with this now...wonder how many more trips I'm going to have to do

take it up with your insurance company, that is if it is your insurance company, or is ityour insurance company and not a third parties. The reason you had your car back in 45 mins is because all they have done is flat the laquer back probably with 1500 wet & dry & then re- buffed it to a shine again. alright if you want to remove a few dust particles but not obvious runs. if this is a proper bodyshop with low bake oven facilities then there is no excuse for such shoddy workmanship. Tell the insurance company you are not happy & you want to take it to a bodyshop of your choice. Hope this helps fella.

i would say yes...stand your ground,at worst it should be to the same standard as before your accident.
be reasonable and calm with the repairer and he'll problably cave in and do it.
just noticed you said insuarance job. if the repairer doesnt agree take it up with your insurer they'll clobber him.
