What are scoobs like to own please
#1
Gonna be selling the cossie soon, and always planned to get another saff, but browsing autotrader i seen thats scoobs are amazinly coming down in price, now i cant afford the car i want, (an esc cos) but the scoobs i seen are 40k or so miles, about 5k on price,
I will freely admit to not knowing alot about scoobs, so can anyone tell me what they are like to drive, how reliable, also if modded how reliable, how much a good one is (roughly) i should have a bout 5.5k, and as I am getting rid of my TD as well, i need a reliable car with 4 doors (family car) which is why to be honest i am a bit worried about getting a saff)
cheers fellas

40k miles and 5k in price?
i payed 8.5k for a 58 000 mile 97 wrx at the beguining of the year
to own them is probably just like owning your cossie
paranoid about it being stolen etc etc
they break if u maltreat them
they go well if u look after them
but the 1st time u get waved at for driving a certain model of car is wierd!

As said above they will last you a long time as long as you treat em right... in my opinion they are fine cars and good as a family car too... its for you decide if the car is right for you or not...
P.s if your selling your cosy i know my cousin would be intrested... email the details and i'll see if he's intrested..

Tiz good stuff but as said check out wot the "proper" cars r going for & see what u can afford. I sold my MY97 UK saloon the other week with 84kmiles for 9k but it did have a healthy amount of toys on it (including the big & most important stuff like nearly new clutch & recent big service 90k un) & BUGGER i miss it

i went from cossie saph to scoob 2 years ago and i have never looked back
test drive one and you will see why!
don't get me wrong, the cossie was good performance car but it was never on the bloody road
i think i changed every major component on that car, still it was good fun when it was working

after looking round to find my dream Scoob for 8 weeks, if you see a 40k Miles for £5K i'd avoid it like the plague unless you have another 5K to rebuild the mechanicals. you'd be lucky to get 100K milers for 6-7K, either its been ragged stupid, stolen/ragged/recovered, crash damaged, or completely uncared for.
You may be lucky (very very very very....) to get a decent one for £5K, but I had 12K to spend and I struggled to find decent ones. Most I saw were crash repaired trying to be passed off as original motors.
£5K for 40K miles? - no way. beware!
My car (pick up this weekend ) is a white MY98 Wrx Sti Type RA, 37K miles. = £12K (£13K with alarm & stereo fitting)
be careful! 5K's a lot to lose in one go!
