Annual Bodywork service - is it worth doing?
#1
My STi is due its first annual bodywork service ~£90.
Just wondered what the concensus was with fellow scooby owners on whether this is worth doing or not?
Understand that if it's not done bodywork warranty becomes void but what about paintwork warranty?
Look forward to reading your feedback & opinions.

I had one not so long ago on my MY00, basically it is just a load of black smelly underseal that is splattered underneath the car, wheel arches etc.
Not essential, but handy for when they salt the roads over winter.

If you want your bodywork warranty you apparently need it, but different garages have different ideas as to what it is, so I don't think it really does anything.
My local Subaru dealer charged me 40 quid + vat and injected waxoyl into some of my crevices . Others pay lots more but get a full treatment on their bottom. Apparently.

£100 for waxoyl all over your paintwork, and black underseal sprayed over the top of all the muck under the arches, not a good experience for me.
It will depend on the dealer/bodyshop that does the work, I'm not bothering again.

Made a right mess of my 02WRX - it looks rusty where the wax has beed left (it's orangy brown) and my dealer appeared to slap it all over. Still finding specks of it all over the bodywork now and it was done in March
BTW it is not annual - every other year, i.e. 12 months, 36 months etc.
I will only get it done at 36 months if I decide to go for the extended warranty, otherwise they are not coming near my car with that stuff again!
Mind you I didn't have to pay for it, partly 'cause of the mess they made but maily 'cause the service manager was new and didn't know anything about it - thought it was a freebee

Big D,
Get yer hand in yer pooch!
Definately worth it, may affect future value when change time comes if you haven't honoured the bodywork warranty.
Also never heard of a corrosion problem on any Imprezas, but there's a first time for everything.
For £90 better to be safe than sorry.

If fall they do is Waxoyl your car you can get this done at most independant garages for 20 quid.
Or your feeling brave you can by a big can of the stuff from halfords and do it yourself.

Just get it done. £90 isn't going to break the bank if you run a £25k car which does low 20's to the gallon and is in the top insurance group Even if you are not bothered, the next owner might like a complete service history as Subaru intended. It won't need doing again until 3 years anyway. It shouldn't involve messing up the car if they do it properly.
