UK 300
#1
Hello all.
I was having a browse around the net and noticed you could pick one of these 'Limited Edition' scoobs for under 20k.
What is is that sets them as limited? Does the 300 stand for how many was made, or for the power output?
Cheers!

Additional extras over the WRX include prodrive rear spoiler, quad headlight conversion, Big gold Alloys, side skirts, alcantara and suede interior, UK300 mats and limited to only 300 being produced which makes it one of the rarest Scoobs around. Engine and performance is the same as a WRX.
Hope this helps.

I used to have one and from memory:
Prodrive Rear Spolier
Prodrive Front Airdam
Prodrive Headlights
18" OZ Wheels
Body coloured side skirts
Alcantara Seats
Tacky UK300 badges
Mats
Possibly some other stuff Ive forgot
It may or may not have the Prodrive PEerformance Package PPP as well

330mm brake upgrade 4 pot front's
Prodrive body kit
Ensure you get one with PPP (prodrive performance pack)
Interior looks a little smarter in my opinion.
Many don't like the styling (prodrive wing in particular)
Each to they're own - I have had one for the past couple of years with no problems (no surprise there) the classic I used to own was noticeably quicker so maybe I should have waited for the 04 sti ??

Steve,
Had my 300 without PPP on the rollers @ PE last year and came out as 228 standard.
Now gone with the full scooby decat inc up pipe expecting around 250 date with PE to be set.
Granted the book says 215

If you've seen a car with bigguns on it, they would have been fitted either as a dealer upgrade, or by a previous owner.

Technically not, as there are 400 S202's, although only a small number of those have come to the UK.
Even if you're talking about the rarest official UK Impreza, the UK300 doesn't even come close. The 22B Type UK was a limited edition of 16, so in the rarity stakes that one wins hands down.

Hmm, corner.
The UK300 is a bit of a dud though. It's limited edition in the same way that a Ford Escort 1.3i Sonic was limited - a standard car with a few bolt-on cosmetic bits and a couple of stickers.
Mr Manchester - not attempting to start a "my ***'s bigger than yours" argument. Don't forget it was you who brought the S202 into a thread specifically regarding the UK300...
I was merely pointing out that anyone who wants to can bring one of these cars over from Japan. You don't know there are only seven in the country, you only know how many the gents up the road from you have imported. What about the other import agents, and owners who've done it themselves?

Never had my UK300 compared to an escort 1.3I sonic before ..did not realise that for the non-ford crowd the sonic could get as many looks..as say a UK300 would for the unitiated..and even followers of scoobs
After 2 n a bit years..i still get people mentioning how different the 300 looks from the run of the mill scoobies...have to remember in future to state, no different from having an escort sonic mate
Cheers

"Dud" possibly slightly poor choice of word on my part. What I was getting at was that the UK300 was an exercise in marketing, rather than one offering something genuinely better/faster - like the P1 and 22B.
In absolute terms, it is a run of the mill Scooby (they all rolled off the transporter from Japan as standard WRX's), just with a few of the aftermarket parts bin bits added on.

Grease monkey agree with your first point, would suggest run of the mill in terms of performance, but not looks :P but definitely not worth the extra. the lure of getting the 1st PPP packs did it

In their haste to generate extra interest in the MY01 cars, I think IM did UK300 and its owners a bit of a disservice. At end of day anyone can buy that wing, that chin splitter, those wheels and those lights to turn a regular WRX into an exact lookalike.
If for example that particular rear wing was unique to the 300, and couldn't be purchased, unless as replacement for a broken one, the "exclusive" tag would be a little more genuine.
The McRae, Cat, Terzo and RB5 were all genuinely unique - be it due to paintwork that couldn't be had on any other car, or even being built on a better bodyshell. In comparison to these, the UK300 looks a little, well, tacky, IMHO at least!

Zilch,
Don't you understand the point greasemonkey was trying to make???
At no point did he say a UK300 was comparable to an Escort Sonic....
He said that they were both called "limited" in the same vein, in that they are both bog standard factory line cars with accessories bolted on and called "Limited"
What makes a UK300 desirable when a WRX owner can buy morrettes, wheels spoiler etc etc and make it exactly the same.
For a true limited/special edition it should be unique to that model..... 22B, P1, RB5 etc etc.
Nobody is slagging your car, after all, we are all Subaru owners driving derivatives of the same car so it'd be like slagging our own.......
And before you start quoting what he or others have said, accept that people often say things without truly thinking them through.

ughh, chill out, just having a bit of fun, basically I do not care what people think, i like the UK300 and for people like me who do not get the time to spare to do their cars up or due to the fact it is a lease vehicle..it was the right option for me..sure my company would not want to pay a whole raft of penalty payments due to me modding a standard WRX
Cheers
