I'm just coming up to 18K on my STi7 PPP and the car feels rough as hell. I noticed this at 8K as well and am wondering whether Subaru have pushed the servicing intervals a little too far.

Is anyone else seeing this on ther cars?

I do an interim oil change every 5K miles. You don't have to but it does'nt do any harm and does a lot of potential good.

Seems to, although the car uses some oil anyway

Cool

If you do a lot of short trips do oil/filter changes more often, especially if you use semi-synthetic oil. I reckon I'll do a couple between now and the 10k service with a change to fully-synthetic at around 7k. (STI8)
As the 20k service requires oil/filter and brake fluid change and just inspection of other items one wonders why your car is feeling "as rough as hell" Make sure there isn't a problem somewhere!

Well the JDM's are still on the 7.5K service intervals - should say something about the UK extended ones, but I'll still be changing my oil half way between each 7.5K service as well

It doesn't cost that much and well worth it for your pride and joy!

towzer,

exactly same on my STI8. At 8k it started to get rough.

I kept oil at right level but not a change - will that help ?

maybe I should find the bonet release button and have a look at the oil. The only time looked at the engine bay was to fill up the washer bottle!!

The car's not running rough as such, it just doesn't feel as smooth as it was.
