Mark, Funny that you should mention that about driving around with the windows down, To the Boy out the other night around the Villages about 8-00pm was just getting a little chilly, On goes the fan to no 3 heat setting to 30 Degrees and away we go!!,
Only problem was though when we went out next time with the old Woman had to try and exsplain the reason for all the heat, If i was to off told her the real reason, She would think that i'am even sadder than YOU!!
Arm-Scooby, Yep will be on the RB5 Owners club stand, With a few of the RB Boy'z, Come and give us a look mate , Will give you a Free Soundcheck!!
Tiny...
Forgot to add that it was the Ecutec Mapping that i had done as well.

After alot of thought i had the Downpipe /Upipe fitted to my Allready de catted centre section and Firestorm B/B on Saturday, And the ECUTEC 3 Mapping.
Wow what a difference, Cannot believe how well the car now pulls in every gear, This is how i thought scooby's were meant to Acelerate before i bought one ( Oh yes no that i should of got the STI)But it really feels as though i have been towing around a Trailer with 3 packs of bricks in the back for the last 2 years, And now it has finnally broken away.
Was even looking for 6th gear whilst mapping as it was pulling so well!!

Ed,
If it's like mine boost should be about 17psi (1.2bar) giving about 282bhp and 276lbsft. Should be a bit more with the headers done and with your APS a bit more again. Goes like a train.

O.k guy's will try to answer a few of the questions,
Spooks, It tottally transforms the Driveability of the car loads more power/tourqe right across the rev range
In the Sticks Love it!!
Edcase, Boost reading on the s.e.c.s. Monitor Peak boost reading @ 1.28 Bar Pat the guy who done the mapping seems to think that it is somewhere near 280 bhp, Not really to bothered about figures to me it is how it performs on the road
Wrx Rich, Yep you will have the same set up as me then m8,The noise is more noticeable on Full chat, And whilst under normal driving conditions you can hear the turbo whistling away all the time, Plus every little bit of noise from the Downpipe, But i just love it so much cannot stop driving around with the rear windows down!!
Also had the mapping guy, Do something to the timing whilst on over run, As it over runs just feather the throttle and she pops and crackles like a good un, Alot more juicy now though!!

The de-catted centre section and Firestorm Back box were from TSL, These items took about 45 mins to fit, The downpipe and up pipe are from Hayward and scott (Xtreme scooby's) Fitted these item's for me and also done the re-map, It took about 2.5 Hours to fit the new pipes and around 1/1.5 hours to do the Mapping,If the noise issue does concern you, This may not be the set up for you,Seems noisy to me, But just love driving around with all the windows open
Are you going to be at Trax on Sunday?

i dont really mind the noise. i have the same tsl parts as you tiny. I was more concerned for the neighbours, but by the sound of the fun that you are having i will be going the same way. Was the re-mapping the same as offered by ecu-tek?
i was debting getting the tsl downpipe and ecu-tek way, would you recommend the way that you have gone more?
Yes i am at traxx, not on the sidc stand though, i will be in the club parking though. How about you? It would be great to have a listen to your car if your about.

Tiny's car sounds awesome, with the new mods up & downpipe, it has given the exhaust note a much chrisper raspier noise, louder then it was before when he's on the throttle or revving it up.
you can hear the turbo spooling so much now when ur driving behind him.
It has nearly completed the whole rally image of his car (just needs 18" OZ superT's)
I went out with tiny in it on sunday and the torque/acceleration has completely changed to before the mods, its just as tiny explained it, free of the trailer with bricks!!! just how the scooby should be. Although i did notice Tiny struggling with a 5 speed box, need another gear now mate ;o)
I feel some wot responsible for the rear window down syndrome tiny, giving away my secrets
happy motoring dude and stay away from that ditch!!!!

Typically the 2001 WRX make between 275-305 bhp, whilst many will see that as a large difference. It does depend on the car & if you had 10 cars lined up all the cars would be slightly different on performance.
Low end grunt is increased though you'll notice it all through the rev range, where th standard car seems to give up pullling around 6000 rpm, with an EcuTek it will pull to the red line.
Typically Pat will map to about 1.25 bar of boost, however as seen on here 1.28 is not uncommon.
From my own personal experience from owning a ppp car, up a 1:7 hill (mountain?) the ppp pulled 84 mph in 3rd to aoround 6000 rpm; whereas the EcuTek (same car) pulled 94 @ 7000 rpm, a substantial difference in performance
As to the exhausts Hayward & Scott manufacture 2 types the standard which if you don't want to upset neighbours is the one for you; if you like a deep vocal note then the other backbox is for you. To date I haven't heard anything deeper....& it comes with a standard 4 1/2 inch tailpipe.
Ian @ H&S can be contacted on 01268 727256, standard bb's are in stock though the specials will take about 5 days to make.....
The rolling road day on the 13th will be interesting as there are a number of similar specced cars running & it will give a good indication of the difference in bhp obtainable from the same/similar Ecutek'd cars.....

Met Pat yesterday at PE when he was reporting some bugs in to Steven. Nice bloke
Had a good chat.
Going to be interesting to see how mine maps with the addition of the APS TMIC and headers. Ultimate power wont be any higher than 300 due to the turbo but I'm hoping to see close to 300 torque, and the torque curve should be interesting. The car should be maki ng the absolute theoretical maximum of what that setup can achieve.
Just need to decide what turbo route to go now....
Just a few hours to go.....

Anyone compared "back to back" (or similar) the difference between a ECUtek'd MY01 WRX and a PPP & Full Decat MY01 WRX?
Is the difference worth justifying losing the PPP and starting again.. or are we talking "a few car lengths" here?
Warrenty runs out at xmas you see
Jza

Ecutek'd cars with decat regularly make 280-285 bhp.
But its more the extra driveability you get in each gear.
Bear in mind you can sell your PPP ECU which will pay for some of the remap
And then you need to save for turbo etc

Xtreme did my brand new wrx about 3 months ago now and i'm gobsmacked at the difference in overall performance and driveability. my car had a ITG panel filter, full decat (H&S system with a tail pipe of my own design - ask Ian nicely and he'll make anything u want) and Ecutek 3. I drive the car to and from work and to clients on the odd occasion and the exhaust note is not too loud in fact with all the windows up on the motorway at a steady 90mph it's bearly noticable. In fact if anything i could do with it being slightly louder.
