Thumbs up

I've just been to Barnsley and I've never seen so many Shell stations; Optimax cost 75.9p per litre! I've been paying that for diesel in Sheffield.

You're fortunate that your scoob is still running. I wouldn't risk putting diesel in mine.

Well, I'm glad that you can still get Optimax 'down the road' in Barnsley Mate.

Our local Shell station in Kirkburton Hudds is switching to Texaco after the bank holiday.....

But, the good news is that Shell will be partnering with Sainsbury's to offer the full fuel range out of the supermarket forecourts in 100 key locations - so I'm told by our soon to be ex-local Shell station proprietor....

On the A628 off J37 into town; I think that that one was 76.9 though, I saw the others as I drove around.

Question

What is the general concensus on fuel. I used to use Optimax in my Legacy turbo but the tappets seemed to get rattlier. So far I'm sticking to Premium UL in my '99 Turbo Impreza. Is this wise? The local BP sells Super UL at 76.9 (74.9 for Prem UL)

Also what is the generally accepted time for allowing the oil to heat up? Is the oil hot enough when the temp gauge is flattening off?

I'm guessing Harry_Boy means the one out of town towards Shelley (Dene Service Station)

once went there to fill up from Hudds - used a gallon on the round trip - so much for saving

there's an optimax one at Three Nuns (Bradley area) and one at M1 j40 if these are any use...

didn't like the three nuns one as it seemed that they'd got the pump pressure cranked up and I got my feet drenched

Hi Guys,

Yes, it's the Dene service station at Kirkburton, next to the hotel. Nearest Optimax fix for me will now be Shell station at Marsh. Seem to remember that it's more expensive there.

The Dene garage proprietor showed me a letter from Shell UK dated June I think, saying that Shell will be partnering with Sainsbury's towards the end of the year..... Doesn't help him though
